Local media pundits not taking MFC as a serious threat.

Recommended Posts

Well after that game   we are serious, did not expect that, we controlled the game at least 80%, great performance.  It might be time to believe......

and when I watch I  twitch and jump and brace for all the bumps,   the dog hates TV, me and football.

Your problem  is not uncommon. I tend to walk around the room while the game is on. Drives my wife nuts. Early comment before she went to bed was “ when are you going back to watch to watching games live.? We have been known to sit in different rooms watching the same game. I really don’t like watching my team on TV.

That’s me 100%! I have actually been banished to my bedroom to watch our matches. The fam don’t get into footy at all so they don’t understand. All good, I sorta don’t blame them. I have trouble keeping my inner foul-mouthed, belligerent bogan alter-ego on a leash when we’re playing.
PS: the tv in the bedroom was a small, old, crappy one. They wondered why I didn’t protest to be sent in there to watch matches on it. Then Mr StarTrack turned up with my brand new 55 inch TV and the mystery was solved. ?

I can’t watch live matches. I get far too stressed, not good for the pump!!

I follow scores and go for a walk Watch replays later.
Going to games is a completely different experience.

Yeah, idk why I put myself through the stress of watching the game live on TV. But as you said, totally different experience being at the game. Thank god we don’t carry on at the game the way we do when watching at home. ?

Have become the same SWYL. Going to the match, no problem. Watching on TV, particularly interstate, tough ask. And when I do watch, the family watch me to witness assorted mannerisms.

I think it’s because we have absolutely no effects on the game, regardless of WHATEVER we do watching the TV.

At the Game you feel part of it.

I can watch a game happily with mates at the Pub, but sitting at home on my own, nope. Far too stressful!!!

Respect.

I wouldn't watch a replay of a game if I knew beforehand that it was a loss.

I will watch sections occasionally, but never a full loss. I leave that to The Football Department, they are being paid!!

Just a shout out to the following: hopeful demon, Dante, Flashinthepan, pollyanna, Drysdale demon, dr.gonzo, AmDamDemon, Garbo, John Crow Batty, Click-bate, Jaded, whatwhatsaywhat, titan uranus and superunknown.

I  told you all! This is exactly WHY I feel the way I feel. Completely justified by thinking we won't make top 4 and now just wait for all the media to follow Dr.D and start talking about our chances of coming 5th. Hopefully now you can put your complete blind faith aside and be impartial and see the Mac for what we are. A team that you CAN NOT TRUST.  Go back into your little hole and justify to yourselves all the excuses you can come up with as to why we lost that game. We have lost to 3 poor teams this year with EVERYTHING TO PLAY FOR. (top 4). We have come out flat in most first halves this year and our goal kicking continues to screw us over.  This is yet another example of me going against the grain of popular opinion, analysing our form, our matchups and stating with a high confidence that we won't make top 4.  Feel free to PM your personal apologies.

Kudos to Roy11 and Cyb for agreeing with my sentiments.

Sorry, what was that?

No complaints here. Let them pump up 4th 5th and 6th.

Swans are the hot side at the moment. Fact of the matter is. They won’t be playing any finals at the SCG or GMHBA (which they’ll try to request) & if they don’t make the 4 they aren’t scaring anyone.

Oh, did we not lose to GWS?

Now we are a 50/50 for 4th spot alongside Port. The highest  % gets in. Assuming we beat hawks and Gold Coast.

50/50?

We could afford to lose 2 games and still finish 4th. We beat the Hawks & Suns (danger game in Darwin) we’ll be finishing top 2!!

When we finish 18/4 I think we will comfortably be in the top 2 ?

You said we'd lose to Essendon. Wrong.

You said we'd beat GWS. Wrong.

You said we'd lose to Port. Wrong.

Now you're saying we're 50/50% for 4th. That can only be correct at this point if you think we are going to go 2-4 from here. If that s indeed what you think, maybe stop and reflect on the first three sentences above and take some solace in your unerring ability to be wrong.

Yes, we can lose 2 but not 3. If we lose to Geelong, dogs and WCE in Perth (which is a big possibility) then we will finish on 64 points. I have Port winning 5 of the last 6 and beating Coll, GWS, stk, Carlton and Adelaide which means we tie on points.

Yes, they could lose to stkilda but no more than we could lose to Hawks or GC.

Port are rubbish. They won't even win 3 of those.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
