It's kinda like a really good bed: sure, you can't stay comfy in one position the whole night, and you still have to get up to pee, but on the whole its a great place to spend a third of your life.

Love this analogy!

I think the stuff about ‘bogan Collingwood supporters’ and jokes about Liam Jurrah were also feeding into the worst stereotypes as well. Elitist, unsympathetic, dispassionate and fickle.

That’s not who we are.

Totally agree, just let them argue with Port supporters about whose right it is to wear the prison bar jumpers, so they can feel at home. No need to call them Bogans or criminals!

You clearly don’t live in/near Collingwood/Abbotsford ?

I for one am loving the new Demonland. No more sackings everything is peachy. I can't believe we want to go back to the dark days. This is the greatest year of my life I never want our run to end.

I went to VicPark once, behind a happy family, little nugget running down to the fence, Dad telling wife to shut up or he’d smash her, in between trying  to pee into his empty cans, lovely atmosphere!

I live in the heart of Collingwood, and there’s a LOT of old-school, cheap-as ‘DEMONS’ beanies being worn on bearded noggins around here right now (maybe they’re escapees from west of Smith St). Otherwise, as it culturally now stands, Collingwood is one big fabulous melting pot…..can even have a kick down at Victoria park without needing a police escort.

Loving Demonland right now, particularly the considered analysis that isn’t so tainted by negativity. Game day thread is a shocker when things aren’t going well, but it’s so predictable as to be almost cute, like an irrational anger-frustration release valve. What gets me most, and I’ll never understand it, is the attacks on individual players, particularly when they’re personal, as if a skewed kick, an errant handball or a missed tackle reflects a personality or integrity defect in that player. It always makes me wonder if posters ever imagine how they’d react to reading or hearing such insults about themselves. And as we’ve now learnt, it can and does have an effect on players mental health. I remember a few years ago learning that Tom McDonald avoids ALL non-internal assessments or commentary on his football, thinking how smart that was, and then imagining how his haters (and he had lots of them as we all know) would use even that to criticise him. The dedication and work someone has to put in to play AFL football, regardless of their innate talent, is something I suspect none (or few) on here would understand. Gripe over…..GO DEMONLAND, and GO YOU MIGHTY REDLEGS!!!!

That is so true. Some posters get a ""whipping boy"so that no matter what the player does for a team they get criticised. Some posters, I feel ,look at the stats first and the team efforts second. If anything this year has shown a lot of players doing their team role.

The great chinese philosopher Hu Flung Dung once stated :

" To be successful ,the sum of the whole has to be greater than the sum of the individual parts"

The 'we need to fix our clearnces' posts are pretty depressing.

Remind me if going to tbe footy in tbe 90s and fans yelling 'just kick it!!!!!'

What do you mean the 90's. I've had a go at a few supporters in more recent times. Same people yell "same old Melbourne, just kick it without looking". I did upset a group of them when I turned around and yelled "make up your mind".

Oh now I get it. We were behind because we were losing clearances. I get it now.

Here I was, thinking we were losing because we were not applying anywhere near enough pressure or doing nearly enough defensive running and spread. Sully me to think the clearnce numbers was a symptom not a cause

I wonder if we should ask the AFL to restropectively give us the four points in games in 2020 where we smashed teams in clearances. And lost. Coz, it's such an important stat.

Better not actually. They might take 4 points away from us in all the games we have lost the clearance differential this year. And won.

Just win a clearance!!!@@@@@

Take a chill pill Binman your starting to sound like me.

It’s “The whole is greater than the sum of the parts” and it was Aristotle that said it not the Chinese philosopher whose childish name you quoted. Lao Tzu is my favourite. Never heard of yours.

Oh I'm definitely these 2. I've even started taking the cheese and crackers to the game. I embrace my character flaws.

I'm sure Ethan is lurking somewhere but SWYL is on permanent holiday. I will miss him a little and he was the inspiration for my avatar after not having one for many years. Although I did realize he was a narcissist after a few exchanges and put him on ignore.  He also got me to behave better as I was prone to a bit of baiting on here. I still have some character traits that can annoy people but what can I say; that's a matter for them.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
