What they’re saying down at Arden St

Nasher

Recommended Posts

I remember their supporters (all 24 of them) mocking us for a decade when we couldn't beat them. They had a right old laugh after they beat us by 122 points at Telstra Dome when Neil Craig was caretaker coach after Neeld got sacked.

After last nights win there has been a few calls on here today from some do-gooders telling us to be humble and tone down the rhetoric.  How about no.  If we slaughter North I will walk all over their graves and their supporters will know all about it.

Jesus christ people are actually worried about this game?? They're [censored] horrendous and I hope we spank them by 50 points.

North is right up there as one of my most hated teams. They're stain in the AFL, and are just about as irrelevant as Gold Coast.

I hope they fold next year.

Our % might be the difference in a prime ladder spot come September. Might even be the difference in us getting a week off or not. Other teams in contention will belt them and benefit. As SWYL says....foot on the throat Demons.

We cant take any game lightly and we wont.

To me this is an ugly comment after years of our own irrelevancy.

Be tough, be strong in our support but do not become inwardly regugnant. Respect the competition and respect Norths heritage.

Agree about the game. North are at rock bottom and have a long hard road ahead of them.

They have won more premierships than us recently and in terms of irrelevancy stakes we're putting our first serious season together in a lift time (2018 was a good run to finals but we were patchy all through that season). We're been a joke club for way too long so some self awareness about that fact wouldn't go astray on this thread.

Stay classy Folks

I hope we put them to the sword. Not coz I have a particular issue with them (in fact I barely notice them and when I do I find them boring and soulless), but because I want us to be ruthless against all teams, especially those on the ropes like North is.

I cannot stand that club and their supporters are all [censored]. Never met a North supporter who I didn’t want to punch in the face. Hard.
I will never feel sorry for another club. We have been through more than anyone and nobody felt sorry for us.
I hope we smash them by 20 goals and BB comes in and kicks 12. But I suspect it’ll be a closer game and after coming down from a massive win this week, it might just be a boil over.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m hoping for a total and utter massacre. My only disappointment is that Boomer Harvey isn’t still playing, although he acts as their runner so he will have a front row seat.

It’s just that engaging in banter feels like stealing an ice-cream from a toddler. Besides, remember how patronising it was when we were so rubbish that people stopped teasing us?

Yep, that pity was by far the worst part of all of it.

The law of ex players in Bbb smashing their old clubs must come and work in our favor just once.

I hope he is selected and I hope he tops the goal kicking tally in just one game.

I cant get my head around seven zero and maybe Footscray losing.

I think Ill need to have a lie down somewhere if we keep winning.

Im just not used to enjoying the footy so much.

I think my hair is starting to grow back.

This is a disgraceful post. No question.

Disrespectful, especially from where the Dees are coming from in the last 10 years.

Evidence of how quickly the media(BT and Ch7) jumped on Kossie for pointing at the scoreboard and the need for Goodwin to give some quiet and probably thoughtful advice on skiting behaviour(assumed by me) is a risk to be managed. The marketing team would have been mortified at this instance.

The upside of remaining focussed and just playing well without the fanfare for me was the 2018 first semi against the Cats.

It was a 95% Dees crowd of the 90K in attendance, and Max said after it felt like a home game at Optus Oval with the crowd on our side. Worth a couple of goals maybe?

That's what we need now. Crap posts and attitudes won't deliver it.

I trust in Goodwin, Williams, Yze (and even the new President Roffey) et al will see us  well in this regard.

Bulldogs won't lose this next one.

If we can smash North - and there is no excuse for a win under 12 goals - and the Tigers stick close to the bulldogs, we might get up on %. I still think it's a few weeks away if we keep winning. bulldogs I think face Port over there soon.

Sitting 6-0, having just humiliated the reigning premier and benchmark team of the last 4 years.  Up against the most irrelevant of the clubs having a VFL lineage.  We simply MUST smash them.  Clinical, emotionally detached ruthlessness.  No pity, no empathy, no quarter given.  We've been on the receiving end from the peak Geelong and Hawthorn teams of the past decade or so, not to mention Essendon and even North themselves.  Let's do our bit towards consigning that insipid lurching organisation into the dustbin of history.

Nah

I'm allowed to hate clubs that celebrated our misery during the dark days. Bit like how I hate crow supporters when they were celebrating Lever doing his knee back in 2018.

What on earth are you on about?? My post is about how much I hate North, and you go on some ramble about marketing team not liking Kozzies efforts, and the 2018 crowd numbers.

Seriously, I hate North, just like opposition supporters hate us.

Get over it.

haters gonna hate Dazzle.

Wishing a proud team  (with Barassi as its inaugral premiership coach no less) to fold IS disgraceful.

Over and out.

I have more concerns of us dropping a game to Sydney and Carlton then I do with North. I've watched them closely this year and they are almost align with our 2013 team.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
