He been a terriffic player for the MFC for many a year and have been the Red and Blue Blood that defines character. Getting to the end of a career is always hard but , his contributions, character, skill, and decisions like this can define a club.guts and determination have been second to none.  GO DEES.

Ways to kill a football club and destroy a team: drop their ex captain and longest servant on the eve of his 300th game, which he has earnt after putting his body on the line for a crap team for over a decade.
Will. Not. Happen.

Goodwin already said he's playing so not sure why this is even a discussion. He's not best 22 but he's undroppable this week

Give him the 300 but not too many more. Other players in the vfl deserve a spot.

I agree with both of you. He should put his hand up and ask for a couple of weeks off “managed”, then play his 300th in a home game at the G against Sydney, and then retire. It was interesting in the Best 22 thread how few people had him in it - and apparently Goody agrees.

There is no easy way to say this but, the club must come first, we have a huge challenge next week vs Richmond. The need for pace will be paramount. I feel that, in view of matchups and balance it may be best for the club to hold back his 300th milestone! If he play heartiest congratulations but I would not play him next week. Too  much at stake GO DEES.

It's either him or Spargo if Fritsch gets up. Hopefully it's Spargo. May obviously comes in for Petty if he is fit. Mitch unfortunately gets replaced by Weid.

My God some fans have no idea how football works

If Jones gave two hoots about this club he would drop himself this week or call out a blighty. He has all season to get his 300. His form has declined from workmanlike to ordinary to now poor so far this season. He knows he’s playing lousy football and way off the pace. He’s being selfish.

Please enlighten ??

It's a tough one. He's held his own the first 4 rounds but today he was poor. I wish we weren't playing Richmond next round.

JOnes was bog ordinary today, but I would still play him, I would expect him to lift for his 300th and I would also expect his team to lift and bust their guts to give this Melbourne champion a big win in hi milestone game.

Well Goodwin has confirmed that Jones will play.    Just hope he plays well and we win.

Cant help but think how Bedford would go in a big game on the G, he was sensational today for Casey but I guess he will have to bide his time.

I am absolutely disgusted at this thread. If anybody apart from Robby Flower deserved to play his 300 th game it is this bloke. And the reward he gets from it is slagging of the first order.

Can we please enjoy the moment !!!

Having just listened to Goodwin’s Presser, Jones will play.
I don’t think he should, but i am not in the Coaches Box.
Goodwin says he is playing a specific role (was slow to get going today, but improved)

Jones has been slow for 3 years...

??‍♂️Unless an unforeseen injury occurs then there is no chance he is dropped.  Go and wash your mouth out with soap.

Agree

And yep, I hope Spargo is the out for Fritsch. He highlighted his limitations today by continually trying to muscle out his opponent, and failing

I’m with ya mate, some supporter are completely clueless

Why end "Robust Debate"? Yes Junior Mc Donald was crucified but I'm not ending his Jones career

No you’re doing an even worse thing. You’re robbing him of a milestone that he has rightfully earnt after years of carrying a rubbish team on his shoulders.

A good strong club would never do that.

Robbie Flower retired as our leading goal kicker in 1987. But he knew his time was up and when to bow out.

You are 100% right.  He was a ghost today.  Richmond will eat us alive if we are carrying passengers.

He has all season to play his 300th.
