Thanks for that. Fingers crossed May is ok. Hawkins has form with 'accidental' elbows, so I'd definitely be on reckless side of fence

Accidental elbows.

How convenient.

Slow mo looks like his forearm smacked his face in the tackle as he was trying to get rid of the ball. Maybe accidental, but gees Hawkins has form.
May looked horrible going off. Hopefully it’s not a break.

Yep, you don't need to convince me. Still game day so I've still got my Red and Blue goggles on. Hang him!!

Umps disgusting in that term.

I love the pressure that we are applying.

Still room to improve from several of the boys.

Poor Maysie.  Looking at the way his eye blew up, unfortunately it's looking like a potential fracture.  Hope I'm wrong.

Petty can step in and do the job. Has been in super form down at Casey.

My fingers are like icicles, so not going to try and navigate my way back through thread.

Can someone with benefit of replays tell me what happened to May? His contest with Hawkins was right in front of me, but it looked pretty innocuous until he didn't get up

Mays elbows suddenly beame possessed your honor.

He through one up as he was turning and caught poor May in the eye.

Lots of blood and May looked dizzy.

Not good.

Take the red and blue glasses off I have watched the Hawkins hit 10 times now, it was an accident 100% may contributed by pulling Hawkins towards him

Depends on whether the tribunal is adjudicating based on intent or result this week.

should get a tap on the shoulder based on form and how the reckless action resulted in a busted eye socket... or the commentary team will write the conversation as an accident and move on.

more likely the latter than former sadly. I hope he’s just a little groggy and dazed for a week instead of becoming another 426

Dermie was quick to say it was an accident just prove it was deliberate. Selwood is without doubt my most hate opposition player. Yes Brayshaw was a little late but Selwood would do Laurence Olivier pround. Then he has the gall to whinge. Pathetic

One of the most disgraceful umpiring performances ive seen in that 5 minute period in the 2nd.  We should have been running it up the field for a shot at goal instead he calls holding the man when it should've clearly been holding the ball.

Two holding the balls that were 50/50 against us in our forward line against Frittata & Sparrow yet the Cats don't get called for similar and then get a reverse call instead.  Faaark off Umps!

It was actually a free to Jetta against Menegola but Jetta then slung him. Reversed free. Then Gus bumped Selduck after he disposed.

I’ve only seen drips and drabs but despite inaccurate in front of goal best footy we have played all year?

It’s such a strange game as it lols like we’re playing an under 16s side at times, we’re doing so easy, but as always we can’t get it into fwd 50 enough. Finally towards the end of the qrt we did convert.

Anyone see what Selwood said briefly to Kossie as they were coming off??

Typical Selwood having a sook at the umps coming off.

Lower you head some more, scumbag.

Nibbler and Jordy fire up fellas

A few of passengers, Jordan, Sparrow, Jones, ANB and Melksham.

Get involved, do some magic.

Wish we could hold simpler marks and kick set shots.

Playing well otherwise, good game plan. Good running and breaking lines, swarming attack and defence.

Keep at it Dees.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
