Effort is there, but GWS have brought their A game, and the pressure is forcing errors.

They have one forward and he’s killing us. Sadly, we have no forwards.

I don’t understand how opposition defenders are always to the ball before our forwards.

Also, I don’t like the style we are playing.

Sydney have show how to play with new rules, move the ball quickly with precision passing to an open forward line.

We are moving the ball so slowly and often to just a contest down the line.

Tmac has not touched it. Cant afford to have him go back in his shell.

Jones is doing as little as possible as well.

Anb , trac and Kozzie working hard.

I fotgot what an absolute shocker max is at kicking said shots.

Clarry usually good but those 2 just prove we are on holidays here.

If we dont get physical and make a statement next qrt. then its a long way to the finals.

Win lose or draw, i expect 4 hours of goal kicking by at least 9 players , 6 days straight

Here’s the thing, Giants are beating us by pure efficiency. We have the territory, we have been controlling much of the play but when it gets out they are using the ball so much better.

Clarry should’ve kicked one of his goals and we’ve had a number of forward entries that have gone to no one, while a couple of kicks that did go to someone get dropped or be a little short. Our poor kicking is catching up with us today.

Fritta completely unsighted.

When you think warning signs, you think that quarter.

Ball spends heaps of time in our forward half but inefficiency and missed set shots mean we don’t capitalise. They break fast and score 6 times from 11 inside 50s.

I do not like the look of this.

Here is there chance to show what they’re made of.

Need a goal kicking coach!

Hold the ball steady to kick it sweetly.

Bombing it into the forward area.

Put Oliver in the bloody forwards line.

Yep, that’s the move...Petracca to full time midflield and Clarry forward

Judging by the score I’m not missing much. Standard Melbourne performance when we’re favorites!

For me, this is the difference between us and the serious contenders: Oliver had two straightforward shots on goal, Gawn one, Kozzie a fairly straightforward one - not a single goal from any of them.

On top of that kicking into the forward line. ANB misses Tom MacD by a metre, turnover, up the other end, goal.

Lots of positives, but it's this inability to finish that costs us.

What are the positives when you can’t kick or hit targets??? It’s been our Achilles heel for last 5 seasons yet nothing changes! Let’s see if the mfc we know has turned up once again.

Gee that was surprising that they came out hard and changed their style. Need to get some goals and put them back in their box. Oliver needs to get on the move to accentuate the holds and blocks. Just need to show some composure, get on their bikes defensively, play with some better spread and make some space in the forward 50.

If he commands big dollars he has to nail those set shots.

Same old same old. Should be killing this mob but we haven't turned up to play. Umpire's pet Greene getting everything. Sick of it already.

I thought we got out coached that quarter, so it will be interesting to see the response. They don’t want to kick it long as we have Lever, May and Gawn behind the play.

That was being more outplayed than outcoached. We had plenty of opportunities. Those misses are coach killers.

At least twice TMac was very clearly blocked from the contest.

We are playing well enough

Well done Jako! He's looking good so far.

Still don't know why we lead to space to the flanks and pockets though.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
