In the football tipping.    Did anyone pick. Swans and Bombers to both win, and relatively easily as well,

All our games need to be played as danger games    No easy wins.  Go hard or go home !

I have noticed that over recent years, when a team loses to Melbourne, they seem to go on a losing streak for a couple of games.

It goes waaaaay back, actually.  It's almost as uncanny as Melbourne disproportionately playing sides with new coaches.

We outright broke the will of a few teams back in the 2004-2006 run.  Very strange stuff - we would play teams which were in the eight when they were our opponents but then by the end of the H/A season they wouldn't count as beating a top-8 opponent when everyone was prognosticating about finals.

Still... St Kilda... this is wildly bad. Maybe a few players read the Rod Owen article pre-game and wondered exactly what all last week's proud culture talk was really worth?

Gee we only beat the saints by 3 goals. Essendon are up by 10, so what does that say about us? Surely essendon aren't that great. They have all these injuries and are flying.

The saints have just gone backwards. I mean they were a top 8 side who won a final and are getting thrashed by a basket case team.

Says we didn’t kick straight. Essendon and us had the same amount of shots as of right now.

Just about every team has players kicking bags except us

Is it too much to ask of Fritsch, T mac, Trac or anyone to kick 6+ tomorrow?

We really should target a recruit to do that!  ??  (just having a laugh)

But seriously, yes, please, can someone properly get a hold of it for us soon.  That's where the real fun smashings start.

I reckon this year is just as much about defence and we are lucky enough to have a rock solid defensive unit at the moment. No way Essendon waltz through and score against us like they did today.

Don't worry. The goals will flow once BB and/or the Weid return.

I expect to see some serious back pedaling in the media this week. A lot of commentators talked up st kilda.

Nah, I heard one of them already saying they've got players out. Yeah, two ruckmen. Crouch played today and had little impact. Old man Hannebery? Laughable. People need to get serious here. St Kilda are all system. They don't really have elite talent, certainly not under 25. Maybe King in time, but he's still developing. If they're off at all, St Kilda get beaten.

I hope you realise OD that the only reason we allowed you back into the state was because of the positive comments you made while you were in banana land.

Please do not revert back to the old negative you or you might find yourself being deported.

You must be confusing me with someone else NC.

Those academy players are really a gift to the Swans over the last few years and even though he hasn’t played yet,  Jamara UH the number 1 draft pick  given to a finals side last year is another gift.

It’s a blight on the game. I also think the father son has to be further dialled back in if not eradicated entirely - yes it’s not a popular view and I get that there is a bit of romanticism about the tradition. But we will have another pick 1 go to a non wooden spooner this year and in the interest of ensuring an equal competition - is counter intuitive.

Only 20?

They had a successful 90’s (though could argue not as successful as it should’ve been with the team they had).

Since then they’ve been a team that’s always sat middle table trying to push for finals but never doing much more, too afraid to bottom out. Now they have and reaped what they’ve sowed for the last decade. Even that run of wins they had a few years back were clearly flukes against lowly opposition, we were awful and only just lost to them (BBB got some of the softest free kicks ever that day).

Eagles are red hot (against a well credentialled outfit)

Still excellent viewing even though the game has blown out

As a measurement, we're going to have to be rather good to match up against this sort of standard!

Port are probably wondering what's hit them

2024 Player Reviews: #18 Jake Melksham

After sustaining a torn ACL in the final match of the 2023 season Jake added a bit to the attack late in the 2024 season upon his return. He has re-signed on to the Demons for 1 more season in 2025. Date of Birth: 12 August 1991 Height: 186cm Games MFC 2024: 8 Career Total: 229 Goals MFC 2024: 8 Career Total: 188

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. 2024 Player Reviews: #42 Daniel Turner

The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. The Demon’s key defender and backline leader had his share of injuries and niggles throughout the season which prevented him from performing at his peak.  Date of Birth: 5 March 1996 Height: 195cm Games MFC 2024: 18 Career Total: 178 Goals MFC 2024: 1 Career Total: 5

2024 Player Reviews: #13 Clayton Oliver

Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. He carried injury right through the back half of the season and was controversially involved in a potential move during the trade period that was ultimately shut down by the club. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury.
