They had former AFL player playing in their side if that's what you mean??

Thanks.  I was thinking current AFL players.  The Bullants team is very depleted after Carlton pulled the pin on them last year.

It makes a bit of a mockery of the AFL when some clubs are AFL affiliates and some aren't eg Bullants and Frankston. While not affiliated Port seem to hold their own.

Petty and Bedford did well again for Casey.

Tomlinson had a good game against Freo though so I doubt we will see Petty vs the Saints.  Bedford will with any luck force ANB or Jones out of the team soon.

Not surprised one bit. The Casey/Melbourne media department in keeping fans Informed around this stuff is an absolute debacle. I've seen country footy clubs post far more better content on their social media then our [censored] club.

The coverage is an embarassment for the Club. We are vitally interested in the performances and the efforts of Casey players, senior and VFL, gaining insights into present and future options for the AFL team (and the MFC as a whole) to achieve success and competitiveness.

Our Club must address this deficit immediately, all season, all matches. There are no excuses for this oversight.

Whats wrong with having news items about the women's team?

Nothing. Just need to have their own website instead of it being a jumbled mess mixing the mens and womens teams all together on the official site.

Fully agree DM.  This is the sort of detail Pert & co should be on top of if they want to build up the Club & memberships.  There has been bu**er all information about the Casey practice games or their results in a timely fashion - p!ss poor by the Club.

agree but is there a forward spot perhaps?

Maybe but who comes out and will we be to top heavy with T Mac, Jacko and Petty.  The changes will be interesting.   Viney comes in for Sparrow I’d say but I can’t see many other changes.

Thank you

Thanks for the report but it was almost useless. Who were the best players? Who did well? Where did Melbourne listed players play and how did each of them play?

Yes, pretty disappointing. Understand the lack of interest and response if it was a bunch of Casey kids playing, but the side included our AFL vice captain,  two of our four most experienced AFL players and all of our 2020 draftees. The game was pretty significant in the context of our season.

Teams don’t need affiliations to be strong, but they do need experienced VFL players and ideally ex AFL players. Port always have plenty of both of those.

From what I can see NB have Paul Ahern and Kieran Collins as former AFL players. Unless they’ve got a few more up their sleeve they might be more like the Frankston and Coburg’s than the Willy and Ports. Which is a shame.

I still don’t understand how Carlton are saving money by splitting the alliance. Seems to me it will cost them the same amount and they won’t have the existing additional supporter and volunteer base (no matter how small).

doubt it was about money. bound to be a disagreement between both parties on player management and development.

carlton probably wanted it all there way, whilst nb wanted to pick best side on merit and play players in best position to win games

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
