Aaron Davey - Please grow up

(in reference to the 2 late stupid bumps and mouthing off at Gehrig when he was killing us. He always gets sucked into St.kilda Even got done for striking in 05.)

He's starting to get sucked into his own publicity and for a guy that took the long road to the AFL, he should know better.

$20 his brother has a better season then Aaron.

Can i just add, last night was not a good one for Junior. I've never seen him play so soft. He didnt tackle like the number 1 tackler in the league, that's for sure. He either didnt bother trying, or let them slip, and he also shirked a few contests noticeably. Is he injured? Or has the softness of the other senior players infected him now :S

Plus can i add that some crucial ump decisions went against us. That one against Carroll was a disgrace. There were a few others.

anyone got a stat for free kicks resutling in goals?

cos we did get owned in their forward 50, the free kicks were soft and not nessecary at best.

this holding the ball rule is otu of control.

A change of game plan will help out.

Less handballing (why put yourself under pressure??) and more kicking.

Brown dog in, he isnt our best, but at least he puts his body in.

Whelan - Good before hurt

Carroll - supply killed him

Holland - Best on GROUND!

Ward - Ok in parts

Bruce - negative tagging role

Bell - not accountable enough

Johnstone - not trapper like

Davey - lacked spark, composure

Green - not hard enough

Miller - non marking chf?????

Moloney - good start back

McDonald - tried hard, beaten

Bate - time at sandy

Neitz - starved of delivery

Robertson - Oustanding yet quiet

McLean - bye bye 2007

Jamar - must do more

Johnson - will get better

Jones - outplayed demon elders

White - good in the ruck

Bartram - will improve soon

As well as defenders, cant put hand on when FF is taking a mark. Like that stupid free kick gerig was give directly in front. Who wants to be a defender in those situations???? :o

Posters - 'Oh so negative'

I too am devastated. But bagging our players is not the answer. I'm not saying I enjoyed the performance. I was distraught when I got home. I punched a few walls. Threw a few objects. Tore up a newspaper. Drank a few scotches. Have not watched a game of football since...

But I could never bag our players in the severe way some posters here do. Are you all Melbourne supporters? Do you love our players, or do you see them as pieces of meat; send it back if the chef didn't cook it quite to your liking. The fact is, for the next 21 rounds (+ hopefully finals), these are the boys we have. These are the boys who put their bodies on the line each week. These are the boys who put their heart and soul into the club. They don't deserve this. They don't purposefully play to lose; to make our lives a misery. They deserve our support.

I was just as disgusted as everybody here, but I guarantee you, even if we were 0-22 at the end of the season, I could NEVER fire some of the cheap shots handed out in this and other threads.

I'm embarrassed about our lacklustre performance. I will be ashamed to face my mates this afternoon at a party. I'm certain to be bagged by you all now just as much as you have bagged our players, and I will accept your hate mail as I know that it is borne out of the same frustration I feel. But yet... 43 years without a premiership and we're all still here. I know you all love the club, and deep down you even love Adem Yze. Knee-jerk reactions to one bad performance don't help. Now I'll run for cover. God help me... I mean, after a handfull of games, even Nathan Jones and Matthew Bate have copped it. I'm sure I'll get a pasting!!! I can see it now:

Pringle - 'Accepting of mediocrity',

Whereas I prefer to say:

Pringle - 'Unconditionally loves demons'

If Adem Yze is dropped, there should be 18 others going to Sandy with him. In my opinion, only Holland, Robertson and Neitz could hold their heads high on a night when most embarrassed the guernsey.

On a separate note, ex-Demon Nathan Bassett will test the tribunal's consistency on a late hit delivered on Leroy Jetta. It's really a crapshoot at the tribunal these days, so who knows.

I think you'll find that most posters are upset with the coach and not the players.

I would love to think so mate. Honestly I would. And perhaps for some posters this is the case. But the topic of the thread was 3 word PLAYER analysis.

okay.. here's my 10 cents worth..

the boys did bad, they know that and quite frankly maybe jumping up and down after we lost one game wont help us. put things into perspective.. yes we lost, but we didn't really know what we were up against. we'd never played the saints under Ross Lyon, and perhaps whoever came up against the saints this week would've had the same result. the point is, we were the guinea pigs, and unfortunatly the tests came back with negative results.

a few questions and comments raised through reading others posts.

Classy Dee.. what did you mean about bate hearing footsteps?

Wrathchild... Bell was unaccountable, i agree, however i still believe this is more due to the same problems he had last year. Bell has always been one of those players that believes in sticking with your man, but he gets caught trying to cover his man and someone elses when other players (eg. Carrol) go streaming downfield and manage to stuff it up. there is a big difference between being unaccountable, and trying to cover two blokes with one man. Bell should get some credit for staying in position and trying to make the backline stronger (although, ill be the first to admit, he had a shocker on friday night)

Pringle... thankyou for being the first person to be positive around here... sometimes the negativity is deafaning, and its nice to hear someone upbeat around here.

for gosh sakes guys, its round one... Freo lost, Adelaide lost, Sydney lost.. get a grip. there's still 21 more games to go, and as long as melbourne dont loose to cartlon, i think we can be a bit more upbeat.

Don't get too cocky. Trash talking us when we have a loss does not allow you to inhabit the high moral ground nor does it bestow intellect upon you.

I read on Saintsational that you are another poster here to troll. You have been caught out and should be banned.

lets get something quite straight here fool...you've been here 5 secs..and acuse me of trol llike behaviour, when its yourself thats doing it.

Someone has quoted me on that site...not me writing it.. or is your diminutive sconce incapable of undestanding the diference.

im not trash talking dees.. im making a comment based upon events..its called opinion...repeat after me..O- Pin- yun !!...i didnt go out and play like sh!t.. 22 others ( less a few ) did that all by themselves.

Most of us here abide by the game...that is ..a persons word is up for grabs... but you play the ball not the man... since you are incapable of this why dont you run along lil boy ( read TROLL ) and go play in anothers kindergarten and leave the commentary to some grown ups !!

now back to somethig a bit more worthwhile...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
