I think looking at the game styles the value of Ben Brown May be completely underestimated.  If we get the ball movement right, he could have a significant year.  If Mason Cox -Ucker and Cameron can get 3, then Sideshow would get plenty!

Agree! Our season could be decided before he makes it onto the grass.

Very little buzz and no real marketing is my guess.

Then again it's a bit like VFL where because entrance is free the clubs really don't want attendance

little marketing? afl were spruiking 'potentially' booked out ansett cup matches and that rd 1 will be a fully booked allocation for nearly all games

it'll be interesting to see just how much people want to go and see games

???

Watching Norf v Hawks. Norf are so bad.

Surely this is the year we get the W in Hobart. It could be like the good old days with the Hawks and Roos propping up the ladder.

they are in front at half time, says a lot for the Geelong superstar team. I do agree Essendon look a bit crappy though.

Yup, the really old days JD.

The all-important AAMI Community Series Ladder (you probably won’t see it anywhere else)

Hawthorn 1 - - 120 81 148.1 4

St Kilda 1 - - 125 99 126.3 4

Geelong 1 - - 79 72 109.7 4

Richmond 1 - - 80 74 108.1 4

Collingwood - 1 - 74 80 92.5 0

Essendon - 1 - 72 79 91.1 0

Carlton - 1 - 99 125 79.2 0

North Melbourne- 1 - 81 120 67.5 0

Dom Tyson is playing well.

He had a very nice game with 3 goals as a midfield.

Why did we get rid of him? Salary cap or opportunity for Dom?

Aside from death and taxes, if North have a 1 win season you can absolutely guarantee  it will be against us down at Hobart.

That venue is an absolute disaster for us and I can’t work out what the AFL’s obsession is with scheduling us there year after year. Last year they even rescheduled us there during COVID until the TAS premier closed the border on us.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.
