Hopefully Rosman comes on during the season and our wing problems are solved. Looking for  more involvement on Monday early game. Huge upside when he gets his mojo going.

In his first hit out last week Rosman looked a bit lost physically not ready - that is probably to be expected. He is going to take time if he is to make it and that's fine - best to give him time than try and force things too early and destroy his confidence

Bowey on the hand was a pleasant surprise - plays taller than I expected, great evasion/awareness and can certainly kick as well as anyone on the list

Do people really imagine Mark Williams drops a name and we simply drop everything and pick this kid up?  I’m sure the recruiting team would then be heavily involved and due process followed.  He may be one of a number of state level players in view, and perhaps seen as a Neita replacement opportunity?

Expect Williams has a fairly good insight, but the club acted professionally.  Invitation to train for one week has zero risk.

Size and potential are mouth watering and Choco's judgement should be trusted.

Yep, a necessity for this season.

I don't mind Choco but gee, there's a lot of unjustified fan boi type behaviour going down here.

Let me balance the fan boi stuff.

Not a fan of Williams after he held PA to ransom for huge coaching contract after flag.

Not a lot to show after flag; short lived gigs at different clubs.

It would appear quit a lot do!

I think if we are creative enough it could be done and he may kick 20-30 goals from a wing and be far more valuable.  You could release Salem to a half forward flank, then put Bowey  playing off a half back flank.  If Salem was to get 10-15 touches in that role he would set up so much for us with his creativity.  We have tools to work with and try a few different things/set ups.  This hypothetical setup i don't think you would actually lose a great deal. Salem would probably kick 30+ if he was played there, Bowey would be fantastic off half back from what i seen in the B game(his disposal skills and speed/leap will equate to making at the next level imo, lock in for round 1) and i really think Fritch would make a good attacking winger.  He has played both defence and attack, he really works hard on repeat sprints/efforts. He is also a beautiful kick of the football most times.

Simon has a lot to work with, i believe that is why many are bullish about where this team can go.  I think we are in for some exciting times this season, as i would expect both Williams and Yze will have a large input on gameday as we start switching some magnets around to really make us an unpredictable and dangerous team for any opponent.

Looking forward to watching Rosman and his progress, he looks like he has a lot of assets and a great prospect and my gut feel is he will make it too.  Hopefully he gets a taste at some stage this year and really comes on over next few years.  Nice to have talent developing and not needing to get thrown to wolves as we would have in the past haha!

I also like the idea of Fritsch being given a go on the wing - maybe rotating there and forward along with someone else.

I like the idea of having someone like Salem (or Bowey) given time on the wing / half forward as they could do a lot to improve our connection to the forwards.  However unless we see Salem given some time there or half-forward v the dogs then i'd say it's unlikely as Goody tends to have people train in a particular role and doesn't make big positional changes during the season (unless forced to by injury).

Will be very interesting to see which players line up on the wing v the dogs - I'm not filled with great confidence with Baker and Jones but of course would love to be proven wrong.

Correct Sydee agree Rod looked all at sea but I am expecting a lift. Yes Bowery and Petty were excellent in defence.

Didn't check spell check which generally comes up with Rodman and Bowery.

Sorry.

I would say, so has Williams, at this stage I would take his opinion.

How’s his opinion looking now

I guess Mark Williams is clueless then.

Was not saying Williams was clueless

His opinion based being a very good vfl/afl player, premiership coach.

Your opinion based on unknown poster on the internet who most likely didn't reach the highs of football that Williams did.

They might possibly keep an eye on him.

Don't kid yourself that you know more about it than Williams or anyone else working in the afl coaching staff.

There's plenty of people at AFL clubs in senior positions who don't deserve them, and plenty of horrible decisions have been made by people who are otherwise accomplished at their roles. Many of those poor decisions have been made by people at this club over the past three years, and we are entitled to question them.

It’s ok to admit you were wrong, it will make you a better person to admit your mistakes.

Okay, I admit I was wrong.

You know more than any of the coaches or footy panel staff in the system, now you will be able to sleep contently tonight.

I never said I knew more than any of the above but I had seen him play and gave my opinion before people like yourself took it personally for some reason.

Wasn't personal, all I said was that I would take Williams opinion over yours and that would apply to any aspect regarding football, as I posted based on  Williams  experience compared to yours.

And a thousand bucks, some insight into AFL, and some bragging rights for his mates.

was a strange call going so late...was it done as a ‘favour’ or did the kid win a raffle?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
