The team is looking good, no nerves, great lateral movement with run to find space, as north are great about shutting down space. ย Greta night for footy.

Standard of this game is very good

Definitely taking advantage of what seems to be the scoring end even though it doesnโ€™t look windy

Great ball movement and desperationย

love Goldie in the backline

They said there was no wind that qtr, we got onto as we broke their early pressure around the ball.

The Dees have dismantled a quality opposition in that half. Super impressive.

One of the best quarters of footy I've ever seen from our girls,ย  theyย might have had higher scoring efforts against expansion sides before but that was against one of the top sides,ย  the run and lateral handball game is working a treatย

Umpires obsessed with the push inย the back rule! Anyย tackle that ends up with the tacklerย on top of the tackled, no matter how they got there is adjudged in the back! Ridiculous but it has been working to our favour this match. Glad I am not a defender these days.ย

Flicking between ash and the footy. What a great 2nd quarter. Nth are supposedly the team to beat. Hopefully we can continue to put the goals on the board and people start to notice us.ย

Go dees!

We are noticeably cleaner than most other sides. Well structured behind the ball. Leading disposal getter in the league.

Could be a real shot this year.

i thought so too

be interesting to see if that sort of ruling is followed thru for aflm; will defo mean a lot frees and thus ball movement

ย

Backline reading Northโ€™s kicks well, backing themselves and playing in front. Some of the movementย hasย been first class and that was a very exciting quarter to watch.

Best half of footy I have seen from the girls. North are a good side but we made them look ordinary. I hope we can play with the same intensity in the second half.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didnโ€™t just beat Gold Coast โ€” they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharpย

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lionsโ€™ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Letโ€™s be honest, last weekโ€™s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper โ€” second versus seventeenth โ€” football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
