There is nothing in that article that is indefensible. But the likelihood that all goes according to plan in a glass totally full all the time way is what makes it so implausible.

It's actually well informed and its points are justifiable, but it's also already out of date given Brown's knee, Viney's foot and Hore's knee. And we're still six weeks away from the season's start.

true, and its based on the assumption we will out run teams, with more outside run late in quarters. Wha ? and also our 3 newbies are consistently good performers at AFL level. Possible but not probable.

Doubt there has been a premiership team in history where there's been noise that players 'want success or they'll leave'. Never heard that from players at Haw, Coll, WCE, Syd, etc. even during lean periods.

Until we get the right mix of players who take responsibility for the success of this club we're not winning anything. We are way off with this group.

you sure? funny how Isaac Smith and others find new homes when teams stop winning. if Hawks were top 4 he would have stayed.

This is the case for almost all teams in the competition but for us to be a serious threat this year we need a lot of things to go right for us.

Firstly we need our Brown recruitment to work. This hasn't got off to a great start as he'll likely miss some early games.

We need players that have been teasing becoming top players to take that next step (much like what Trac did last year).

We need our injury list to remain at a manageable level.

We need our game plan to be something that not only works (in theory), but that the players need to buy into completely. Goody also needs to have some flexibility to be able to combat the other teams kicking goals in a row.

I'm not buying into us being a genuine threat, I think we have the pieces of the puzzle available but putting it together I just don't know if we've got it.

No chance for a flag, would be lucky to make the 8.

Another Quarter GLASS full

Open the eyes that is a very good summary of where we sit. Don't be surprised if most of that falls into place.

Yes its a fluff article, but actually worth a read.

The Melbourne Demons are a genuine 2021 AFL premiership contender

Great read, very well written and clear inside AFL knowledge, as that is the exact game plan we were implementing and why shelter quarters were a killed.

could go either-way so we just have to see.

To be a contender.

You have to finish inside the top 4. We haven't done that in a long time.

And normally to win it you need a Home qualifier so top 2. Which is incredibly hard in an 18 team comp.

And how many have openly stated that on our list?

Rufus name all the names please.

Just going off what I've heard on here about Oliver and Petracca. Really hope it's incorrect...because if it's true then i don't hold much hope for us.

Reality for great players in professional sports is that there is no legacy like winning a premiership with your original team. It generally means that not only can you play the game, but you are also a person who potentially can change and/or drive a culture of success.

Thanks Rufus

A  little less "fake news " from D/L and the media driven news Might Temper this impression.

Yes it's disappointing and a bit worrying but our own lack of belief also can lead us to imsgine the worst.

Lets hope 2021 can allay any fears and we can fulfill our potential success dreams.

Ah who care about some article Gun to head I'd say we're finishing 10th this year. With a bit of luck we get a few more wins and make the 8 but I don't see anything higher than that. The fact that most of us still get extremely nervous when we face bottom 4 sides frightens me.

That may well be a thing of the past Layzie especially if we don't get railroaded ( sorry air Freighted) to Cairns.

I'm quietly optimistic this year for some reason.

Very little rerasoning behind it but just a gut feeling we are in for a very good year.

Seems now we have one of the longest injury list in the competition. Bad luck or bad management?

We do? Hore (long), Weid (med-long), B Brown (short-med), Viney (short) and a small rehab group who have all done a fair bit of preseason apart from Brayshaw. That’s not too bad. And it’s missing guys from where we have depth

Geelong’s rehab group has Duncan, Dangerfield and Cameron who might be their 3 best players.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
