Sums up why it's a good year to have multiple late first round picks. Other draft guides have Macrae & Carroll both in the top 12 or so prospects. Almost a guarantee for someone who we rate highly to slide to us.

My random smokey for a later pick is Conor Stone, a 188cm 81kg forward/winger from Oakleigh Chargers.

Draft Central has a comparison podcast between him and Cook as well.

They measure up virtually identically in terms of size and athletic attributes, with both prospects having also enjoyed steep rises on the back of their on-field performances. The AFL website also mentions he was a candidate to move up the draft boards in his top age year before COVID ground a halt to the Vic U18 program. Could be a good candidate to replace ANB or Melksham as a medium forward with potential to move onto the wing.

“Stone made an immediate impression at NAB League level last year, booting five goals in his debut for the Chargers against the Murray Bushrangers. The medium and powerful forward remained a part of the Chargers' line-up from then on, including kicking two goals in their preliminary final against Sandringham and featuring in their Grand Final win a week later. Stone is a natural footballer who could have shot up the ranks this year.” 

Perkins and maccrae would be a great outcome. 

I personally love Eddie Ford’s highlights. Tackles like a beast and jumps a mile high. I know he isn’t going to be taken early - but I’d love to see him make it.

Six of the top 20 are NGA, zone or academy picks. Pick 18 is effectively pick #24 imv.  Macrae and Carroll will be gone. Brayden Cook is the most likely. This is in my 2020 phantom.   Don’t forget Isaiah Winder (Peel Thunder) as the one who we will be tempted to draft.  He’s very classy and ready to play imo in 2021 as a dangerous half forward.

Most fans Elwood think another ready made small crumber is ONE GAP worth  looking at Plus an outside winger/ runner   HF flanker that kicks goals and maybe a FORWARD or versatile KEy position type.
I think we all agree that all of the players must have composure and good disposal skills.

It will be really interesting to see how Jason Taylor attacks this draft. 

Will he stick to the best available practice, or will we be targeting positions where we have holes in our list?

There are a lot of KPP in the top end of the draft. Will he pick one if they slide?

Picking another inside mid would likey annoy many of us.

I don’t have issues with small crumbing forwards but it’s very rare that players of 171cm or 172cm make the grade.

Rather than trading the picks and moving up I think id prefer to keep picks 18 and 19 and take whatever talent slides.  We could potentially get two great kids that should have gone top 10.

There will be mistakes made between picks 1-17 and we can seriously benefit from this.  We need depth on our  list so this is a prime opportunity for us.

Pick 23.. jesus.   So we gave up our 1st rounder next year for picks 23 and 24 then.

Look on the bright side - if we win the premiership pick 18 will become 20-23 after F/S and FA comp picks.  So we (roughly) get 2 for the price of 1!!  And we get the two players a year earlier.

It will fall that way roughly after academy picks etc yes. It's why I think we still need to trade our way further up the draft board, as the players we'd be really keen on (Perkins, Macrae, Cook types) will go in the 10-15 range.
