Farewell Sam Weideman

The reason he didn't get tried back is he would need to be able to take an intercept mark and that is unlikely.

ย

Because he canโ€™t read the play?ย

Go well Weids.

I'm probably more disappointed in losing Weideman then I was with Jackson.

I think as supporters we've been far more emotionallyย  invested with Weids. We've all wanted him to make it but at times been extremely frustrated with his on field performance.ย

I think a fresh start will do him well and he's been super gracious his whole career especially this year and last year.

All the best.

Fair summation.ย

I think Sam is his own worst enemy. For some time now, itโ€™s been apparent in his body language that heโ€™s not had the confidence to play to the best of his abilities. Thereโ€™s always been an observable tentativeness in his contested marks and disposals. I genuinely believe he never mentally recovered from his missed kick after the siren in โ€˜19 against the Crows. He played a great game that night, and didnโ€™t deserve to made the scapegoat by the press, who cruelly focussed on him sobbing in the change rooms (and mind you, as an inset in the corner of the screen as the Crows weโ€™re about to sing their song - a disgusting bit of direction that I wouldnโ€™t even wish on Toby Greene).ย

That kind of thing can be extremely damaging for a young player.ย

I wish him every success, and I hope a clean slate does whatโ€™s needed for him.ย

I thought Weid attacked the game and opposition players with more gusto when he had some time down back. In the Casey games, his ruck work was good.

Not so much in reading the play, as he was always there about, but his timing (judging were the ball drop is) and double grabs were his weakness.ย

Given plenty of opportunities in the MFC team, but couldn't grasp, because of inconsistency.ย

I think he will do well changing teams and having a clean slate.

Fairly sure our selection policy is garbage.ย  ย Simon has to learn to make changes week to week and within games.

Got great confidence in our list managers, not so much on the coaching front. As a team we show little flexibility or flare, i think a lot of that is down to coaching/game plan.

Most coaches currently would do great with the talent on our list.

Supporters are not aware of our list needs?ย  Would actually question this, many here seem to have a good grasp on our needs when it comes to the types of players we require.

I didnt say our supporters are not aware of our list needs, just that our list managers are aware of our needs more so than us.The coaching is another kettle of fish.Won a GF last year thats hard to fault, but agree there does seem to a problem at the top end

Weideman done, Rendell let it slip after receiving a text from Sams old man

I remember laughing at Essendon's tall forward predicament at the start of the season, lesson learned.ย

I wish weid ask the best should he go. No chance he gets a touch against our key backs. Says All you need to know.

Good luck Sam Weideman we all hoped your success would be with us but that never came to fruition, thanks for helping us win the flag at Casey this year. Take care Sam.โœ…๐Ÿ’•

Essendon have a stack of young talls. Maybe could have swapped for one.

Farewell, big sexy. It was fun while it lasted, but it lasted a lot longer than it should have. Still not sure why he signed that contract extension last year.

Interesting that Aaron Francis just got traded to Sydney when it was expected that the Weid trade would be involved in a 3-way between the clubs.

Maybe we get the future 4th rounder for Weid that Sydney paid to Essendon....

Iโ€™d be hoping we can get 37 if we throw in 54 with Weid. Pick 37 will go in Davey bid match anyway, but could get as high as 32 or 33 after Brisbane match bids.

Bang on

Future 4th just doesn't equate to all the emotion we put into him over the yearsย ๐Ÿ˜›

37 will go out 3 for Ashcroft, Davey and Fletcher but then come in 3 for 34, 35 and 36 used on Ashcroft. In other words it will just end up where it is at this stageย
