Is there any other Club that a smart player who plays for us should consider.?

I mean one could go through the list and give an argument against justย  about all of them

Yeah really no point trading Weid. Back him in for his last contract year I guess.ย

That assumes hรฉ wants to stay.

If he wants to go then lets get the feelers out, get some trade happening and good luck to him!

No he's ruck depth now and he'll play if Max or Brodie miss.ย  He's a must keep IMO.

Jeremy Finlayson seemed to develop his understanding of the craft and impacting around the ground in 2022

Impact around the ground isn't rucking,ย  finlayson and port also didn't make finals

These are my exact thoughts, I was talking about the hypothetical situation of him wanting to leave.ย

Even if he wants to leave. He's in contract. If he's desperate to go, he can go at the end of next year. I don't think he is. I think he'll play AFL games for us next year and if luck falls against us with Max or Brodie, maybe plenty.

Well I don't think he wants to leave anyway so until then I agree he's a required player. But if he put his hand up and said he wanted to leave for more opportunity I don't think it would be right to keep him here against his will.ย

Natanui gets first hands on the footy and gets totally stretched costing his team with opposition continuously transitioning through his opponent in general play

Witts, good ruckman AA 40 man squad, didnโ€™t play finals

TDK had a really good development year as a ruckman, didnโ€™t play finals

Ports run of wins came off the back of changing things around at CBDs and around the groundย
ย

Rowan Marshall very hand ruckman, didnโ€™t play finals

Todd Goldstein in the top half dozen rucks in the comp, didnโ€™t play finals

Thereโ€™s more to being a ruckman than just winning the tap, fair to say the Cats reinvented their ruck roles this season and took the flag

We had a big impact.

Hickey, Oscar Mac, Gawn the rucks in the top 4,ย  Sean Darcy, Nank and Tim Eng below them.

Coll and Geel the only ones with Genuine top level rucks

Port lost 4 of the last 6 which shows how sustainable that model is.

No problem with Weid as a back up,ย  but he isn't close to being ready for that role.ย

if we want good cheap ruck depth i hope we're considering rookie-ing or SPP/DFA-ing Brayden crossley, i indend on calling up the exchange boys and asking their opinions on his prospects of re-entering the comp and how he'd be allowed to do it as a previously delisted player although time ago. he looked seriously promising coming through as a youngster at the suns

Crossley looks about 120kgs in the VFL.ย

Maybe if he runs from Southport to Melbourneย

He might help with our salary cap. Looks like the type of bloke who'd accept a slab and a carton of ciggies as match payment.

Bigger than Merv Hughes - no chance.

You'd probably have to throw in a family sized meatlovers pizza to clinch the deal.

I heard he doesnโ€™t drink or smoke - so that might change your payment method. He also has a thyroid issue causing the weight issue he is carrying.ย

I agree he is not particularly athletic, but i reckon his rick craft is actually pretty good.ย

He's done quite bit of ruck at Casey, and not just this season. In 2019 he did a quite bit of back up ruck work, and IIRC was the number one ruck in a few games (i think because of injury to the main ruck).

I remember writing on demonland a few times during that season that i thought Weed's ruck work was quite impressive.

One of things i find interesting about Weed in the ruck is he uses his body and strength better than he does as a forward, and is pushed off the ball less.

My feeling is he often gets pushed off the ball in marking contests because he slightly misreads the flight of the ball and ends up in the wrong spot, or is nudged off line by a defender who has read the flight better.

Reading the flight of the ball is obviously not quite the same issue in the ruck.ย  And at around the ground ball ups and throw in he can plant his feet and wrestle.

To Luci, DeeZone and mo64: Iโ€™m sorry guys, but I need to apologise to you. Its been a really slow day, and as I thought Crossley was being perhaps unfairly stereotyped, I made the above info up just for a bit of fun. For all I know he might drink like a fish, smoke like a chimney and eat pizza for breakfast lunch and dinner. Or again, he just might have thyroid issues.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
