Not surprised by that. He's far more trouble than he's worth and hasn't played a decent game of football in years.

I listened to the post interview discussion and fan call in which centred mainly on Stephenson.

He didn’t disclose anything new regarding Treloar other than it’ll be difficult to bring players in unless he is moved out.

Doesn’t sound like they are interested in TMac.

No mention of Tom Phillips

There was a reference to the first round pick being on the table. Didn’t catch whether this years or next.

It is their 2021 first round pick (so that the points aren't used for their F/S (Daicos) next year).

It may be a good bet for a club to take.  I expect them to slide down the ladder and probably out of the 8.  Also, 2021 is said to be a very good draft without so many compromised picks as this year.

I didn't catch while listening but I’ve googled and found this on fox sports. Pretty sure this is what they were talking about.

PIES’ KEY 2021 PICK ON THE TABLE

Collingwood are reportedly open to parting with their 2021 first-round draft pick, in another sign the club is set to be one of the most active this trade period.

Foxfooty.com.au has confirmed AFL Media‘s report that the Pies would be willing to deal for its future first-round selection, given the club is set to pickup father-son prodigy Nick Daicos, who could go with pick No.1.

I wonder whether this year's and next year's 2nds for the Pies 2021 1st would be a good deal for us?

They must be poorly paid at the bulldogs if that is a substantial increase on his current contract as has been reported.

Edit:  Browne's info suspect again!  Sam Edmond seems to have a better grapevine:  “The reason he is considering leaving - he’s been sold the massive midfield dream. The lure of that, plus a big contract that conservatively speaking is worth $700,000 a season and playing with his brother Kyle is unbelievable".  From Fox news.

what midfield dream would that be? the one that has an ongoing disconnect with its forwardline?

I would do it!  The good thing about including next years 2nd is it gives them some points for Daicos who is touted to be top 5 so they will need a lot of points to get him.

I'm guessing a few club's will have their eye on the pies 2021 1st.

"It was really good that Ben Brown has selected Meloburne as the club he'd like to play for. We have had a couple of preliminary discussions with North Melbourne. We don't think it will be a first round pick. There's been a few picks and players discussed so far" - Josh Mahoney

Mahoney interview:

  • Ben Brown:  Started trade conversation with North and deal will get done in next 10 days.  Had some discussions around picks/players.  It won't be a first round pick.
  • Tom McDonald:  Ben Brown changes role for Tom.  Came back a bit heavy after covid.  Club has had no discussions with other clubs yet.  Asked Tom and his manager to look around and will see how that goes.
  • Oscar McDonald:   Conversation was side tracked before Mahoney answered it...
  • Preuss:  Only one conversation so far (with GWS).
  • Looking for a ruck back up either in the trade period or off-season (which I assume means the rookie draft or the Preseason Selections).
  • Recap on trading out this year's first round pick to North, last year.
  • His new GM role - not much new to what we know.
  • Treloar would be handy but unlikely to be able to get him.  Sounded very unlikely.
  • Phillips would be handy and we may look at him on the wing but happy to look at internal candidates.
  • Jones didn't want 2021 to be a token year.  300 not the driver for the contract.  Is doing some coaching.

Whoever was interviewing seemed more interested in getting through his list of questions than exploring any of the above.  Very frustrating.  I really wanted to hear the update on Oscar.

Just listening to Mahoney.

My take:

We’re in for Phillips

Treloar unlikely but he didn't rule it out. Gave the impression a lot will need to play out to make it possible.

Good write up Lucifer.

Won't be first rounder for Brown. Few picks and players discussed.

Treloar sounded very unlikely.

Philips not sure, as Josh keeps spriuking the internal candidates to fill the wing role line.

He also mentioned during discussion of future first trade with North for Pickett that we would like to move our first pick of 25 higher if possible. Always wanting to get a higher position in the draft.

Hogan done for third round selection to GWS = wow. 50 something :O

Thank you very much for summary.

I listened for first half, but Matt Rendell's interview style was so irritating I turned it off.

Is that who it was!  I also found his style very irritating.   I thought Barrett was much better.  At least he gave people time to answer the questions.

Reckon we’re definitely in for Phillips after listening to Mahoney

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
