Gawn managed 4 votes across those two ordinary MCG losses we had.

Expect him to poll 3-5 more votes in the NSW hub games and be near the top of the table after round 7.

well done

I can't work out how to turn on my TV lol (can't remember the last time I watched terrestrial TV). All the live blogs are rubbish - especially the AFL's. Any recommendations? I just want updates with who polled what in each round. Seems simple enough.

My god is it me or just Tienan Stynes have that distinctive deep voice like his father!?

In the course of the year it is easy to forget just how good a season Max was having before he hurt his knee. Tiernan is a tall lad isn't he

I'm surprised Oliver polled in the Tigers and Lions games. Lions game in particular, I would've had Viney ahead of him.

Sometimes it’s a lottery.  Like the free kicks, umps watch the game in a different way to most of us.  Trac deserves a few extra votes but that’s just imo!

Oliver had the best stats

Neale a mile in front. Doubt anyone will catch him, though he won’t poll much through the back end of the season.

Umpires so lazy. Lions win = 3 votes L Neale.

Is Maxy‘s beard styled like that as a result of the mask?

Result of mask. I suffer the same fate. It gets pressed flat on your chin, but remains full under the jaw. Very annoying!

Watch out boys, here comes the Trac!!

He has had a fine year Trac, at times he wasn't as effective - but I'd hope he would be 18-22 votes range.

Spot on congrats?

Well done Christian. 20 votes in the Brownlow is good reward for your hard work. Hopefully next year it will be yours.

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
