Re Jetta, he just continues to get the ball and go head first into traffic which has been a problem all year when he's played. Unfortunately, although he did a few nice things the end is nigh for Nev. I don't have time for b/c-grade players who consistently do f-all to be paying tributes. He did slot it though, and he was as effective last night as he has ever been but all in all he can grab his coat on the way out as far as I am concerned. I'm done with ANB, Goodwin and Omac. Neither of them are up to it and they must be moved on. Nev is alright. Don't worry about Nev when the heat is on. Quote

Something our forwards don't do well especially Weideman. Ball just won't stick in his hands. Thats if he hasn't ran under it already or been pushed off it. Compared to other teams forwards who can stick a grab in a pack, we just don't have one. Not a one. Quote

old55 23,860 Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 It was great that we found a way to win against an equally desperate side and keep the season alive into the final round. It will be interesting to see if can do the same against Essendon next week - another team that played finals last year and has had a similar horror fixture to us without a break. It's desperately disappointing that we couldn't find that against the Swans or Freo. Now we've seen GWS lose to Adelaide and MFC in consecutive weeks off the back of some arduous travel. It's strange to think they belted Freo in WA just a few matches ago and now Freo is playing some very good football - they are not without a chance against the Dogs next week in Cairns. 6 Quote

No more negativity. But f^&k him. Did you actually read the article or even better listen to the presser? Goodwin was sending a clear message to the players to not get ahead of themselves - something we all get disappointed with on here time after time. “I spoke last week about growing up as a footy club and it was to execute our roles and play like we did in pressure situations. “It was a step forward as a footy club – there’s no question about that. “I thought some of the maturity of some of our young guys especially was outstanding, but we’ve got to create a new pathway forward and play this way week in, week out. “All we’ve done is given ourselves an opportunity to play the same way again next week.” What exactly do you take exception to from those quotes? Watch the presser. It was a gutsy and emotional win and we celebrated accordingly. But then Goody was smart enough to immediately put the brakes on and adopt a terse, unfinished business attitude. I'm certain that will be the messaging in-house this week as well. Goodwin also doesn't write the headlines. 9 Quote

Either that or a lot of coaches are getting laryngitis for little effect. Wouldn't make much sense when there is a crowd but this year, why not? Seems to work for football managers plus a multitude of other sports coaches. I can’t think of many team sports where the Head coach is so far away from the players during play. Certainly not thinking it’s the panacea for the current ills but as I said it was nice to see Goodwin so animated and involved, which has been a big bear of the multitudes on here. Quote

As little as that! Must be broken at almost every mark or free. And the rule doesn't seem to mention that is OK as long as you run at some unspecified angle away from the area with your hands in the air. Once again a poorly worded and poorly enforced rule trying to achieve a reasonable objective. How about leaving it to the umps to decide if the player running through is any real threat to the player or his options in taking the kick? Most of the time the 50m is paid they are no threat at all. And the penalty is enormous. Similarly for paying 50m for tackling when a player clearly plays on but the ump hasn't got around to shouting play on in time. By all means shout as it makes things clear to the player with the ball. Occasionally they do this, but it is rare. Use discretion rather than a wooly rule. The point I always think of during the game is “is the player running through the “protected area” impeding the player with the ball from playing on quickly/being able to move the ball on quickly?” (Poorly worded form me as well) If yes then a 50 needs to be given, the idea of the rule should be to allow the game to flow better/faster and umpires have relaxed the interpretation. Viney had one clearance suggesting he had little time in the midfield which seems rather odd with Brayshaw out. If my observation is correct were we experimenting, if Viney goes? As it turned out we went very well. Does anyone have access to the 'Centre Bounce Attendance' stat? I quite like Viney out of the centre as he can be a clog to ball movement. When there is space for him, he'll run and carry before disposal, gaining metres and possible targets ahead. His penetration can be improved this way, I reckon. Quote

The modern basketball backgrounds add something to a natural forward, particularly for those at a high level of BB competition. We have a few that really can sense the goals, instantly confirmed with a quick turn of the head for the eyes and brain. Trac, Jackson, Smith, et al, for example. Hope Jackson can play against Essendrug, even at the expense of the Weed. Quote

Dont get me started on the kicking in danger. 1 Quote
