I got a little one due in January... I have been pleading for Maxy or Christian if it's a boy, May is defiantly now I contender for a girl!

May was my late Grandmother’s name and the middle name of one of my twin girls. ❤️?

He has been a terrific recruit and is providing exactly what we need out on the wings - two way running.  He is also hitting more and more targets as the weeks go by.

Riewoldt said he has been 'okay' in an article today.  He would now be changing his tune pretty damn quick.

Riewoldt is a [censored]. Dead set monger. You couldn't read a more bia article then that.

The thing that I liked was that unlike many games in the past when we dominated the stats and lost, we won this one despite the Saints winning the inside 50s 46-30, clearances 29-23, tackles 47-36, free kicks 11-9, hitouts 31-30 and scoring shots 14-12.

Interesting too was the centre clearances 2 to 11

Yes, rare for use to be so far behind in inside 50s yet win.

Straight kicking early vs Saints missing too many helped set it up.

Also, Viney did not attend the team song in the end.

Walking off he looked like he cracked the sads..

Did anyone notice this?

Injured perhaps?

They're both the same account aren't they? Well renown to go missing when we get a win.

I rather be watching highlights then spending my night posting random theories about strangers on the demons forum. Lol. Keep going mate, it’s embarrasing

I posted something similar last week, and it's still true after a win - not getting enough out of the smaller forwards. Spargo, Hannan, VDB and Pickett, not a goal between them and only 1 goal assist. Not many possessions either.

Doesn't look injured at all.

Nice mark from Tomlinson.  Nice tackle from Spargo and Salem.   Nice composure from Oliver.

Nice spoil from Omac

I reckon there’s a better performer than May and Trac tonight. Check out Stafford belting out the song in the background, classic stuff.

First time under Goodwin that we executed a specific gameplan for a specific side. Some horrendous turnovers as we tried to implement a possession game with our skill set, however that was a confidence builder. Reminded me of what Geelong did to us. Denied the oppo their 1 wood first and foremost

I think we can give Richardson a fair amount of that credit!

Go you bloody Redlegs! Stick that one up you, half of Demonland!

We totally took away their game and they had no answers. Everyone bangs on about how good Ratten is, made no moves at all on May, stuck to his plan (as most modern coaches do) and King wasn't good enough on May, who was utterly dominant bar two moments where he was outmuscled.

Our defenders and defensives systems totally bossed them. Utterly choked them.

Take a bow, Steven May. The best game he's played for the club, by some way. He's had a really great season. I'm happy for him. Lever was a handy support player. Oscar... vulnerable.

Oliver did some important running early in the game, but didn't come into the game until the last. Showed what a competitor he is. Loved that moment in the last where he burst away from the contest and hit the next target.

Petracca was incredible in the 1v1s and 1v4s(!), let them score one easy goal from the centre stoppage with poor defensive marking, otherwise he and May were the difference. That match winning goal was Dustin Martinesque.

For all the talk about Butler, did a couple of nice things, but our systems didn't let him do it often enough and he only got it 11 times.

Some really important stopping from Viney in midfield. Didn't get it a lot but his defensive role around the stoppage was vital. I was wrong there. Glad we played him midfield tonight. If he's going to play midfield, I reckon he needs to play the defensive role, unless Oliver is quiet.

Langdon's run was great as usual, as was Hibberd's, before injuring himself.

Rivers is a really impressive young player. Great poise, toughness and good ball use. Well done, Jason Taylor. Another Taylor Special.

After a slow start, Wagner worked into the game and was well positioned a number of times, and ended up being a handy contributor.

I think one of Salem's best games for the club. Really solid in defence. Good ball use.

Spargo laid a couple of really important tackles at key moments. That last tackle near the final siren to ensure we got the stoppage and it didn't ping back the other way was massive.

I thought Hannan and Kozzie really struggled, although Kozzie at least laid some tackles. Still, we didn't let their half backs zip off half back.

I disagree with the sentiment that we had a lot of passengers. Hannan didn't do enough and Kozzie tries to be too fancy instead of taking the game on, but other than that we put in a really solid 3.5 quarter effort.

I also disagree with what Jordan Lewis said after the game, about neither side really getting their game going. What we delivered tonight is our game. Our mids weren't on the top of their game, but they defended really well in tandem with our defenders and our forwards. We're developing ways of winning when our stoppage game is taken away from us. And that's team defence.

And we beat another side who beat us in the clearances and inside 50s. Exactly as we did to Collingwood and very similar to what we did to Brisbane.

The tackle count is a really interesting stat too. They beat us in that 36-47, so it was all about the defensive zones and how well set up we were. Every time they looked up, they wanted to go off half back, but couldn't. Every time they tried to switch, the zone migrated quickly across the ground.

The players need to bring this every week. The game style wins finals. It's now up to this group to bring the effort consistently.

Love the intensity AF? Brilliant absolutely bossed it!

Pot...kettle...black?

I'm not insinuating anything, just sharing the footage.

We sung the song vs Carlton in Round 2 without a bunch of players in the circle, including Gawn, in his first win as captain. There could very well be absolutely nothing in it.

Sorry but l see we just barely beat stkilda. Not a team that l would call a serious threat. Yes they are in the top eight but this is a year where when and who you play really matters. The saints still have to face some top teams, we don’t. The saints out scored us over the final three quarters, their poor shooting for goal was the difference. We need to do a lot better if we are going to play finals football.

Agreed. They are passengers. Spargo the best of the lot in terms of his defensive efforts. Hannan needs to do more. Pickett needs a rest and a football education and Vanders, well, I dunno.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
