Jones, Tmac and AVB we can't carry anymore

Have to tap the first two on the shoulder and AVB we simply can't take into 2021

I think the flood gates will open QTR three and we will begin to convert and we will take a 5 goal lead into the last, we look an absolute class above. If the umpiring was fair we would be 2-3 goals further ahead right now.

I had a front wheel drive Magna with a smaller turning circle.

That's offensive to the Magna.

Enjoying the bronx cheers from our fans at the ground when we get a free kick. Keep it up.

Clear lift in effort in the middle that quarter. But still lost the CP count.

-12 CPs, -12 hit outs, even in clearances, but the telling stat, +12 in inside 50s for a 5-point lead.

Melksham's putting in yet another half-hearted shocker. Fritsch is nowhere. Jones took a quarter to get going. vandenBerg and Harmes are making too many errors. May's a step behind where he was last week. TMac's not a ruckman and not working into it.

Petracca, Weideman, Oliver and Lever are carrying us at the moment. We have a lot of room for improvement and should, if we have any self-respect, win this game well.

I think Fritsch is playing decoy at FF which I’m not mad about.
No shocker to lose the ruck against two proper rucks when we have TMac and 6 gamer in there.
We need to win more contested footy in the middle. Do that and we should win.

Jones was a forward line inside General that Qrt

Perhaps a new role

Trac would be up there with Dustin Martin as one of the most fearsome players in the game if he could just hit those errant handballs and dinky kicks. It always seems just always 1-3 metres from being a ultra clean disposal.  He is great to watch regardless.

And he is still young :) and developing..

what has happened to the umpiring of late. we got slaughtered everytme we touched a north player in the first quarter. countless frees against north were not paid, players legged, pushed out in marking contests, so many holding the balls not paid, is a disgrace and a blight on the game.

Oh calm down mate. The umpires are coming off a 4 day break.

After not touching it in the first term, I thought Jones had a very good second term.  6 touches and few score involvements.  He had some real influence out on the wing.

Really liked Angus so far, Jackson trying really hard but he’s just 10cm worse off.

Need to really keep going hard in the next two quarters. Come on demons!!!!

Jones has been ok. Involved in some good forward movement.
The disappointment for me is Melksham. Captain needs to stand up. Been soft in the contest. Not good enough. Needs to go hard and smash some contests.

I like the inclusion of 'should' in that sentence.

Nothing is ever set in stone for us.

11 - 5 scoring shots and yet just 5 points up. We look more dominant - just need score board pressure. Umps again sub par - better though in the 2nd quarter.

Need to put them away in the 3rd quarter - they are just hanging on.

How was his kick that should have been spoiled over the line that Weid fortunately ended up marking and then his up and under to the North defender, instead of lowering his eyes.

The guy is finished and should have retired at the end of 2018.

Melksham, Hannan, Spargo, Fritsch and Weideman have laid 4 tackles between them.

Surprisingly, Melksham has 2 of them (Hannan and Spargo 1 each).

Ok Jones has been good - but this has to be his last year is what I'm saying

Tmac + AVB included

At least from an MFC perspective

Even to think that I think we should win is some sort of an achievement.

Loving the Weid tonight. Great hands, gets into good spaces, and look at that - some delivery! He should be converting those chances, but I'm not too upset about that, everything else is falling into place. Been a good string of games.

If we can kick the first couple of the second half then I really think we can put the foot down like we did against the Crows last week.  We are clearly the better side, but we're allowing North to stay in the game which gives them a sniff.  Take that away and I'd like to think we can win the game.

what is frustrating is that the commentators are not talking too much about the umpiring. They are watching the same game as us and can see exactly the same thing as us, they should be calling it for what it is. The melbourne players that took a mark after the north player front charged him and knocked him over in the forward line and while the melbourne players was on the ground punched the north player in the leg pretty meekly an in all and it got reversed. really....

Getting coathangered & not receiving a free has nothing to do with discipline.

I rarely get into the umpires but if this keeps up my TV screen is unlikely to survive this game

3 Dropping the balls in front of umpire 31 not paid to us and then pings our player after 1 second for holding the ball. Is there such a thing as an Umpires Adviser who watches their umpiring?

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
