Weiderman A fine line

He kicks 2 or 3 goals and its a great game, absolutely shanked all 3 shots

Very harsh on Lockhart. He was actually pretty good tonight. Secured his spot for next week.

Wiedeman... KIck the [censored] GOALS

I know that's 4 but had to add the expletive

Goal Review System - Cost us dearly.

Yeah, we made a lot of mistakes and so did they but we were out and away when Lever took that mark.

Surely that review takes place while the game goes on and if it's not a mark then they bring it back...

Harsh on Fristch. Flew at everything. 6 touches , 4 score involvements, 2 goals.

very limited opportunities after quarter time

Why are our ratings always so negative  ?? We were playing a top side tonight and with reasonable kicking at goal we would have won !!!!

Yes that hurt and someone has said it was the field umpire who called for the review, not the goalie! Is that true, if so it’s criminal. I will have to watch the replay tomorrow when I have calmed down. So many squandered opportunities with missed set shots and then a number of [censored] umpiring decisions, I need to review again to understand.

Pretty sure it was the goal umpire 'Earl'...either way it shouldn't have happened.

Even when you review you won't understand some of the umpiring decisions...I had a look multiple times at the first Pickett unfair tackle and it was a bump straight in the guts.

15 metre kicks were so inconsistent that even the commentators were joking about it.

You guess is as good as mine on any holding the ball decision, I reckon they toss a coin on that one.

Hocking has stuffed the game...umpires have lost all confidence.

Quite a few decisions against us tonight that were seemingly not unanimous, overruled or just not picked up at all, but we were playing against a Team that has to be given every chance to feature in a packed sell out come GF Time.....

I thought Lockhart was really good tonight, don't nderstand the hate

Agree I like the way Lockhart is going about it. Yes he makes mistakes but he takes the game on and the the way he moves sets up attacking counter attacks. The best thing is he seems to be getting better with every game and I hope he retains his willingness to attack.

Joeboy - cut to mustard

Gawn - mastered by apprentice

Viney - kamikaze ball attack

Oliver -  skills upgrade urgent

Petracca - struggled for significance

Salem -  get hands dirty

Langdon - goal kicking bunny

Jones - great servant retire

May -  Hipwood influence negated

Melksham -  smart true boot

Lever - earned his keep

Harmes - five year contract!!!

Lockhart - emerging small defender

Hibberd - howler didn't help

Bennell - spotlight too bright

Brayshaw - rocket needs blast

Weideman - toss those boots

Fritsch - add michelin suit

Jackson - it's Jet Jackson

Jetta - got the Jones

McDonald - revisionism equals reality?

Hannan - beachball in Manly

Pickett - accelerator not connected

Goodwin - stale bread and...

MFC - muffins fluffed culpability

Umpires - return to sender

AFL - dump goal farce

Tarax Club - not happy campers

plaster over cracks

Lockhart definitely better than suggested and I thought Langdon was good, despite being one who missed a gettable set shot.

Have to agree. Also I was at game and he made some good positions when we had ball and our guys would not kick to him. Strange.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.
