If we get on top of their midfield, forward line and back line, we’ll win.

Once again Ethan - a brilliant and succinct analysis.

Where would we be without your insights.?

Just arrived back at The Manor and read Ethan's preview to bring me up to date.

Had a terrible week really. Purchased what I thought were very sexy and moderately priced undies for the maid and it turns out they were face masks.

Next, when I started talking up a Demons win the maid fled.

Anyway I've been driving around all arvo searching for her. Didn't find her sadly but I lifted the spirits of the local serfs by letting them see me and giving them a wave.

Now i'm cracking a reasonably priced shiraz quaffer and putting an obscenely fat steak on the barbie ( barbie as in cooking appliance that is).

I'm super confident again. We showed some very convincing signs last week ( albeit  against a [censored] Hawthorn) and reckon we'll only get better this week.

Kozzie to kick a couple. Jones to surprise. Viney to cause serious injury. Dees by 27 !!!

Just got poured on waiting to get in. Luckily they opened the gates 5 minutes early. Was a big downpour for about 5 minutes and now just lightly raining. Think it should pass soon.

The “Before the Bounce” videos have been really good this year.

Well he is tastefully and responsibly attired Jim but I'm not certain.

The rearview of the Sheila looks familiar though.

Until getting trapped in Oz I've spent most of my adult life living in time-zones west of Australia. I thought getting up at 5am in Europe to watch the football was a drag. But having to wait until after 5pm is much worse.

Mate even having to wait till 10h today. What am I meant to do? Watch Eagles v the Pies? ?

Well is was pissing down when we arrived and now a light mist of rain. Hopefully no more rain.

That’s the report from the weather man on location ?

It’s our home away from home.

Don't think we'll win this. The Lions are in the kind of form we are merely aspiring to be in right now. Will be happy with a gutsy, tight and close game (and would of course be elated with a win!). The only thing that would upset me is seeing any kind of regression and a low-effort performance.

Other than a good win against Port they haven't beaten much. Got thrashed by the Cats too

Club has issued vision of the heavens opening up over the ground.

Apparently, 100.2mm of rain fell at the Gold Coast Seaway to 9am Sunday morning. This was the highest daily July rain for the station since 2005.

2020. What a year.

At least we should handle the wet conditions OK, we are after all from Melbourne????? what a crazy old world this Covid-19 world is...........WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Go Dee's, give us all something to smile about in old Melbourne Town.???!!!

Anyone have any idea what the weather is like up on the Gold Coast today??

Brisbane is better than us. Big question about whether we can perform against a side stronger than GC/Carlton, mid-table sides.

But I'm really looking forward to it. If we play the same way we did last week, we can certainly win.

Might be wrong but I believe there has been some rain.

Just in case everyone wanted another weather report from the ground .. the rain has stopped!

It has stopped raining.

Let the game begin.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
