Jumping Jack Clennett 1,825 Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 I have about 20 years’ worth of scarves from 3 family members clogging up cupboard space. My wife has put her foot down....she wants them out. I think someone offered a solution once before on DEMONLAND. Can someone remind me of a good way to dispose of them? I thought perhaps the club could use them to drape over seats if we play again this year in Melbourne with no crowds. ( eg when we play an MCG final in Sept. with no crowd...as I confidently expect!) 1 Quote

Seriously though, I dropped off my collection to someone who wanted to make a blanket from them a couple of years ago, after advertising here on Demonland. I'm sure someone else will want to do similarly. Quote

Every Game in '64 25 Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 I once asked that the Club stop sending a scarf with my membership pack but to send me current year cloth badge instead. Then I would be able to sew this onto my scarf. Thought it would look really cool to have years and years of membership on the one item and would eliminate the issue of too many scarves, too much waste. 4 2 Quote

Sew them together and make a trench coat for the winter. A great way to really show your support JJC. Edited January 9, 2021 by nosoupforme . 1 Quote

Doesn't the club request donations of MFC scarves and hats about the time when they have a multi-national drive. They give out tickets and offer second hand paraphernalia to mainly international uni students, travellers and guests. That round is the one when a cohort of people, together with their country of origin flag, parade around the boundary at the G. Have a chat to the club about it. Quote

Melb ask for donations of scarves for their "Internstional round" Where they hdbd out free tickets and give the people a scarf etc. Ring the Club and sort out .I suggest. Quote

The ones I wea around 2005 - 8 as they are much bigger than recent ones and I like the colours better than recent years were the red looked maroon for some years. Will be just my luck that the win the flag this year and I won't have a scarf. Still it would be a easy problem to bear. 1 Quote
Redbeard 500 Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 I got a blanket made up last year and it's great. It's a lot heavier and warmer than I thought it would be so it's great in winter. With all the different lengths, widths, styles and colours we've had over the years it's a bit of a hodgepodge which I like 2 Quote

darkhorse72 1,943 Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 Given we get 6 new scraps every year and in WA maybe wear them once or twice :(. A blanket is on the cards. The quality of the scarves has really declined over the last few years. 1 Quote

Yes Darkhorse they have shrunk every year for at least 12 years and they are made of petroleum products I think! Certainly not a natural product Where are all the greenies when you need them? Dee-Nee 91 Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 What happened to all of last year's scarves? I couldn't get to my local collection point and they quickly ran out anyway apparently. Does the club have them stored? I'd like to get one, as do some Demon mates. 1 Quote
