Mix the red and blue together and you get purple, the same colour as a deelightful fortified beverage.

I agree with you on this. Why has it taken so long to agree with a new contract. I hope that Jack Viney stays with us.

The bleeds red and blue thing is rubbish of anyone. I like to think of myself as an optimist outside of footy, but anyone can be turned.

Have the club decided what a few of us seemed to hint at throughout the year, that we're more efficient without Jack, and therefore haven't offered him a contract?

No way they haven't, but perhaps they've shaved some dollerydoo's off?

Yeah, that's what I meant, I guess. Bit of lowballing, combine that with taking the captaincy off him and yoyoing him in and out of midfield.

I rate Brayshaw higher but at the same time dunno if he'll ever get back to 2018 levels on consistency, even without Jack - worth the risk tho, imo!

Oliver, Petracca, Brayshaw and Harmes is our best midfield IMV.

Yep, with Sparrow developing

Add a skilled outsider and we look much better.

Love Jack, hope he stays, but he's Gawn

What % chance you giving that he goes

Happy for JV to test his free agency. He’s at his peak as a player, he’s not going to get better in his skills and he’ll not be able to sustain the manic nature of his game for too much longer. He is too inconsistent for us, his best this season is great to watch, it doesn’t happen often enough.

He bleeds red and blue, lol. Will he get us to a flag? I’d put the chips on Trac, Oliver and Brayshaw etc over him now.

Interested by the amount of agreement on this...

Goodwin said we need to be ruthless as a club. Jack Viney running around for someone else. Ruthless indeed.

If so mixed feelings and anywhere but Essendon.

Well I certainly haven’t given Jacks contract much thought until now, I just assumed it would get done. But when you think about it, it’s unusual for a vice captain who is not over thirty to remain unsigned with only two weeks left of the regular season.

I am so confused with where we are at as a footy club, I have know idea if I want him to stay or go.

Maybe Moonie is that beady eyed John Ralph character or Sam McClure or that midget Stevens fella or maybe or the fireman bloke Cane Kornes...?

Either way, I think Salem and the Crows are a good fit.

I know how you feel.

I produced that equation with a lot of effort

I expect the same amount of effort in the form of an eligible answer.

Jack due to his courage and family name has had a terrific go with the media. If jack eants to go we need to accept it. I am starting to think young Rivers has shown as much as Jack in his first year and we gotta keep searching for the right mix. Different story if he wants to  stay and accept a modified on ball role.

Eligible or intelligible?

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
