Well in football terms anyway. He has 2 years of decent footy left if he's lucky, given his injury history.

Nice attempt at moving the conversation. Demonland is a forum where supporters bring up a topic and then others can have their opinion on that topic. This topic is, "Is Mahoney the right guy"  Now it would be wonderful if our topics were, Dees win three in a row, Hogan on top of the goalkicking,  Demons get a home preliminary final, but that is not reality.  You gave the game away again with your,  face to face like men comment. I reckon the extend of you fronting an MFC official would be complaining about the bread on your cheese board. The only board that would have you.

Ignorance is bliss apparently.

They both have had injuries, but were part of a defence Sunday that only conceded 7 goals. Pretty good I would have thought.

Not to mention that we held both teams 'goalless' in one of those quarters, while generally keeping them to only 1 or 2 goals in the other.

Our defence, and the players we traded to get in there, are far from the problem right now.  It's what's happening further upfield that is the greater concern.

What makes you think that Port would let him go

What? I never once mentioned were letting him go?

I am talking about his draft year. Our first pick was Tom Sparrow in the 2nd rouns after we gave up pick 6 for May.

Leading up to the draft we were having talks with clubs in trying to get back into the first round to snare Zak Butters. Jason Taylor was a very big fan.

That doesn't mean that Port would now let him go.

DD no one is saying Port would let him go..

We are talking about pre draft, before he became a port player.

When he is out of contract then yeah don't be surprised if he have a sniff. We may or we may not, who knows. Right now I see his long term future at Port Power.

Not too dissimilar to our performance against Carlton a few weeks back.

If it is his responsibility to support the senior coach and the playing group by providing the resources that they to maximise their performance, then I think he is significantly underperforming.

Who are the bright, young assistant and development coaches on our books? Chaplin and Rooke have been around a fair while now, and neither convinces. What qualifies Plapp to be an AFL midfield coach? What are the KPIs for these guys, or do we keep shuffling their roles until we find one that suits?

We haven't had a rising star nomination in almost four years - where is  our player development? Why do we only hit the draft hard once every four years when we have list lacking in depth and top end talent? The North trade was a disgrace, but only one of many in recent times.

Who is keeping Goodwin accountable for the performance of the team? What is Richardson bringing to the table? I'm assuming Mahoney ticked off Goodwin's contract extension before it went to the board - that alone should be cause for dismissal.

A disgrace.

We traded a first round pick for a first round pick.

We cashed in on what we knew was a strong first round. We backed ourselves in to be better in 2020. That's precisely the sort of attitude this club should have. Doing the opposite would just be "accepting mediocrity", wouldn't it?

FFS.

There's plenty to question about Mahony and the decisions our club makes in many areas. I really, really, do not think this is one of them.

Correct in your assertion in the first paragraph unfortunately you are replying to some posters who let emotion get in the way of thought or rationale

Agree with the second, but unfortunately none on here are in the Inner Sanctum of the Club, so have no idea of the background, raison dieter for some of the decisions, we only see, in some cases the outcome

Unless you have been in a managerial position, you don't have the experience or knowledge to know and understand the 'politics' behind some  decisions, and even then a footy club is a completely different beast

If Pert and the Board decide Mahoney has to go, that will happen, if they don't no amount of huffing and puffing on here will change that

Standard Answer...

How would you know what occupation people on here do?
Management takes on many roles, and this club hasn’t been run well for a long time. Results speak for themselves

It wasn’t the skateboard itself that was the reference to yourself, it was the whole clip, an epic fail.

I know for a fact we were trying to trade back into the first round.

@dazzledavey36 could not have made it any clearer. He was fairly transparent in what he was saying that we were hoping to get into the first round of the 2018 draft ( we gave up our initial first rounder for Lever and our Hogan pick for May) to get Butters who was still on the board, it's got nothing to do with Port letting him go now  we were hoping to get him before they did

Edit.

@drysdale demon I just read your post#55 so disregard

Amazing, why thank you, I try and bring a bit of balance to the perpetually over critical input from some posters

Mahoney is doing his job, he may not get everything right, but hey only the bloke in the ermine robes in Rome is supposed to be infallible and he backed up Pell

You’re idea of reason and balance is unique old mate.

I’ll give you that.

Presumably the ridiculous 3 and 4 year contracts for KK and Preuss were Mahoney's idea too.

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
