Does anyone remotely have any information how today's match against the cats went this morning?

I just want to hear that Weideman kicked a bag and Bennell had the ball on a string.

I would love to hear Jackson clunked a couple of marks up forward.

I saw Jackson warming up as an emergency.  I highly doubt he played.

I heard Weideman kicked 10.

This means he'll now be named emergency for the scratch match next weekend.

any news or a report out at all?

its pretty poor that nothing has been reported.

Why are you surprised?

Bennell 4 goals... Brown 2 goals

Bring them in

The scratch match goals are on MFC website........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goodwin said in his presser that Bennell got on the scoreboard.

It's really hard to tell who played well with just the vision on the MFC website, for instance Bennell looked pretty classy with 3 of his goals and another was a handball over the top, but he also involved with some of the other goals, so he looked good (in the 30 seconds of him), while Browns goals came about a beautiful pass from Bennell, which it looked like he could have let go through and another from a horrible Geelong error. on the vision, you couldn't tell if Brown had a good game or just one where he got on the end of a couple of goals?? Chandler's goal did look pretty good, off the back of some nice work from Spargo, and Jones looked ok at the contest, but again it's so hard to tell who played well or not.

Re Brown how can he be worse than the lot running around in the seniors the last two games?
simple fact he kicked three goals and in a team that cannot score that says he should be in the seniors.

Oh Bennell was dropped because he could only play half a game in the seniors well I think it is obvious his half a game is better than a number who played a full game. He kicks one goal we win.

  • Demonland changed the title to Scratch Match vs Geelong

Bennell looking good with his stoppage goals. He won't get that much space at AFL level, but good to see he's still capable of those types of goals. We rarely score goals from stoppages, and really lack players with that ability to find the space in forward congestion and snap goals.

Chandler’s goal was a beauty - also some great pressure by Spargo leading to the last goal.

Get Bennell in!

Baffled he wasn't playing against Geelong.

Rested my [censored]

We should rest the coach this week.

Sadly nothing from Weidemann

Was probably playing in the ruck given Brown was forward and Jackson was a designated emergency.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
