Wow, popped over to bomber blitz.  Biggest crucifixion complex since Jesus.  They want to be let off everything, delist a McKenna, and move games so they play with a full squad.  They are still sore from being drug cheats, too.

(I had to use hand sanitizer on my eyeballs after that....)

Lloyd is on the case and not long until the rest of the power club sycophants follow.

Poor Essendon..not the players/clubs fault

Where have I heard this before

Good point Skuit. As frustrating as the match being postponed due to the EFC and McKenna's poor decision, it could have very easily been Kossi or Spargo contracting the Corona, noting our players likely don't live in the filthy western suburbs.

If anything this is a good reminder to all of us to keep socially distancing and not take anything for granted.

Don’t live in the filthy Western Suburbs

Sorry not everyone born in Toorak like your good self

The round is over so the points should be allocated now

Essendon were incapable of fielding a team, so they must forfeit, leaving the points to us. It is unfair to weaken us by forcing us to play games closer together because Essendon failed their responsibility to field a team.

It doesn't matter if the covid was their "fault" or not, although hearing Connor breached protocol after knowing makes it appear so anyway. Essendon should have kept their players away from Europe and flying. The price of their poor choices (or even bad luck) should be born by Essendon and not shared with or passed on to others.

Bottom line:  Each club is responsible for fielding their team and Essendon failed to do so, so they forfeit the points. Anything else is BS and MFC should be and should have been strongly making those points to all and sundry from the start.

This story keeps looking worse for Essendon.

Surely we get the points.

As per usual our club is scared to do anything but pull the company line.
I want someone to come out and say we are sick of losing out because of other clubs doing the wrong thing.

Does Glenn Bartlett still exist?

Asking for a mate.

You have my vote RB

How many failures on the part of the Bombers in terms of the individual player and the club to adhere to the protocols does it take for the AFL to consider awarding the points to the club that’s the real victim of their breaches? This is particularly so in view of the fact that another of their players broke the rules a week earlier.

If a number of Essendon players are isolated for two weeks, there’s suggestion their game in two rounds time vs Collingwood will be moved days right so Essendon can field a full strength team after those players serve their isolation period. What the actual [censored] if that happens?

Ethan that is after you edited it, big night?

Sick baby and toddler, up all night. Does anyone have any whisky and sleeping pills? That wasn’t even my first edit, I think that was after my fifth. Does the post make sense now? I can’t be bothered re-reading it.

I think you could get into trouble giving whisky and sleeping pills to a baby.

If the AFL shuffle things around to accomodate Essendon in any way, shape or form and shaft us I'll lose my [censored].

Who am I kidding of course that will happen.

It was reported by Ralph during the Fremantle vs Port game last night. Just one of a number of scenarios apparently however if the players are told to isolate from today you know it’s going to happen.

No but they rarely do. Haha. Hope the kids get better soon.

Of all teams you would think Essendon would have learnt the importance of protocol in such matters. Matty Lloyd is taking the line that the team is finally after a good start after what they went through in 2012 and now this and how it's not fair.

"Club legend Matthew Lloyd is among those who believe it’s “unfair” if Essendonis forced to play without its entire first-choice defence — or a host of other stars.

“They’d be massive underdogs,” Lloyd told Nine News. “They’ve made such a great start to the season and you just wonder if another season will be derailed for Essendon in 2020.”

Nothing will surprise.  The AFL will do anything to help Ess climb the ladder, after all they are a 'big' club and need to be looked after, right.  As usual the AFL will mitigate any EFC sins and sweep them under the carpet.

If the club has mishandled any of this ie ignored the protocols, surely they should also be penalised.

Another season derailed?  He is almost blaming everyone else for the predicament the Bombers find themselves in.  Arrogance and ignorance do go hand in hand.

Didn't Collingwood get a VFL match moved so Jaidyn Stephenson could count it as a match in his suspension and play AFL for the Pies the day after?

Of course their game v Collingwood will be moved to Sunday. 'Big 4' rules.

On Pert and Bartlett - does everyone expect them to be like Eddie making all the comment in the media? I would expect it to be done privately with HQ and not in public.

I'd assume that any discussions will be done in private but I'd also assume that we don't want to rock any boats as we need the AFL's assistance financially during this time. Rock and a hard place stuff.

Eddie and Collingwood are in a much different position to us in terms of platform, financials and Big 4 status. They can do as they please.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
