how can every club already have more list changes than us FFS why do we struggle so much with moving on from players who dont perform over an extended period of time, soooo frustrating, we've genuinely got no clue what we're doing do we.

The CEO is conducting a review of the FD.  Probably holding off final list decisions until that's complete is a good idea?

I actually meant all the other clubs as Turner stated every other club has delisted more players than the mfc which is incorrect, Tigers and Cats for starters haven't.

There is still plenty of time to go before it needs to be done.

so the two clubs who are still playing havent made any list changes SHOCK

garauntee 2 days after the GF they move on more players than we have in a heartbeat + theyre actually successful so they have every right to retain the majority of their lists.

Chill out.

Adelaide finished last and has only made four changes so far.

Sydney finished bottom 4 and has only made five changes.

GWS finished below us, just 3 changes so far. The Dogs barely above us, just 1 change.

Also, it's not a race or a competition and is literally irrelevant.

When it comes to trades, the MFC always pays overs and frankly we are a beige underwhelming club.  May is a win, still not convinced of much else.  As usual the MFC shot itself straight through the head after losing those two games in Cairns.  I still don’t believe we manage our salary cap or have any effing clue compared to Geelong.

Looks like Beams will retire and strike a deal with Collingwood on the remaining two years of his contract.

That should free up some decent sal cap space for:  Pay DeGoey?  Keep Treloar?  Trade someone else in?

You get the feeling that they might be happy to move Treloar on IF the right deal presented itself.

Sounds like they are pretty close to re-signing De Goey as well, so the Beams pay out might be helpful in that regard.

so rumour mill has gone pretty quiet on Nibbler after earlier rumours of dockers/crom interest

also interesting no rivals have come out re hunt given he's still ooc with the promise of a certain role

i definitely expected one more resigning announcement pre trade period - hibbo, bedford, jordon, bradtke seem pretty straight forward extensions that will happen regardless of list sizes and structures and you'd imagine they can all be negotiated with a *dependant on total budget cut clause* as i imagine most deals are atm.

This threads looks a good place to put this:

trade news

Why clubs will look to hold onto future picks

"AFL.com.au has spoken to a number of clubs and player managers recently, who have all predicted a significant reduction in the number of future picks that will be traded over the coming weeks...It will subsequently mean that more draft hopefuls will miss their chance later this year and will become eligible to return to talent pathway programs next season, adding to an already strong 2021 NAB AFL Draft crop that has recruiters excited for what's to come."

We know this years draft is compromised in so many ways which in itself is reason enough to keep future picks.

That 2021 is considered a strong draft and those that miss out this year will be in the draft next year, is another reason for clubs to keep future picks.

I'm not sure if it's already been discussed but I think we need to be aware of the possibility of some really potent forward combinations next year. If Cameron goes to Geelong and hogan to Richmond, we need to have the ability to defend against three pronged forward lines. Can lever take one of those guys? If not, and the macs go, who will our other two defenders be other than may? Smith? Tomlinson?

Makes good sense, provides potential benefits and skills, keeps those in the picture keen and somewhat responsible towards the Club. I'd retain Hunt - seldom played in his most valuable position under Goodwin - he's a forward on the run, leading, and we know he can kick 'em.

Must agree with this assessment (and unfair misuse thereof) of Hunt. Got the talents for forward entries and penetrating kicks further forward; a great kick for goal that with specific practice and opportunity, could well be a dead-eye [censored]. Competitively fast and accelerates even more. Rednblue diehard, for mine.

I'd like to think that TMac is going to another club ... he is now injury-prone, often hampered and has given his best up until the middle of this year. As for his brother, he should have been traded years ago - not even a depth player in reality. Best wishes to Tom if he is to move on somewhere else.

Possibly, but assuming may takes Hawkins, could he take a Cameron or dangerfield? Can lever or smith take them for that matter? I'm not so sure.

Yes May-Petty for Hawkins-Cameron with Lever free to intercept or 3rd man up for the spoil.

Dangerfield or Martin forward is a different problem.

  • 2 weeks later...

The gall of Essendon:

  • Maneuvered Brisbane to ensure they got pick #7 for Daniher
  • Are demanding # 8 from Carlton for Saad.  Won't give anything back.  LOL are furious Carlton want to split 8 for 2 later 1 st.
  • Are demanding a 1st round pick from Port for Fantasia.  Good Luck.

BUT only prepared to give:

  • a future 4th round pick for Wright.
  • a future 2nd round pick for Caldwell.  GWS think he is worth a top 10 pick

I know they are ambits but they usually get more than they deserve because clubs can't be bothered haggling over the fringes.

Hope Bulldogs take them to the cleaners with a Dunkley deal

Just to go with this, I think it was Jon Ralph who tweeted that Essendon were trumping Carlton by offering their Pick 7 in any swap deals that might come up so Carlton can't do it with their #8 pick.  How petty can you get?

And I totally agree with everything you said above.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
