People turn off because the Commentary is so bad. I do the same with the Cricket ? now. Unwatchable so often,  because of James Brayshaw style of Commentary where they pump themselves up bigger than the game!!

2x 2hr games is better than 2x 3hr games - it would allow them to have all games over the weekend with no overlapping. Would also mean games on Thurs/Mon nights are more lucrative as they will finish earlier on tv

Ok I agree with you, the game time shouldn't be changed or tinkered with. From what I see the Corvid stuff was just an excuse. So the turnaround and fixture issues may have caused player fatigue. Well it's going to be a shorter season now so adapt and overcome. Potentially we might have seen some fringe players given more time or some given a debut. I'm sick of the AFL and it's meddling with the rules so they can "improve the game"  Contest can come in many forms and I like the idea that a fitter team can get on top of a more skillful team as fatigue sets in. Often that's how tight finishes come about.

Oh wait, that was one of our big improvements over summer. I've often wondered how the WC game might have ended with an EXTRA 20 MINS. Curse you Red Fox!!

Let’s have five a side, 20 on the bench, 10 minute quarters, 30 minute breaks for advertising betting and fattening take away foods, no access on free to air tv, so much noise each break due to advertising and general nonsense that the coaches can’t be heard, excessive running training so that all players have stress fractures in their feet, a ban on any fun at all for players: no sex, no alcohol for fifty million years, no jokes, No going out at night ever. Also no contact at all ever. That’s what the AFL wants. Let’s give it to them. Oh and five games a year maximum.

No fans will attend.

Then we can all go and watch the soccer or rugby league and forget this RUINED game.

Going into 2019 we would pencil all those games in as wins. No excuses especially with Geelong at the MCG.

Of course we have got such an easy draw because we are not worthy of a marquee game. (every game a twilight game !!)

Sunday's are considered afternoon not twilight and Are  FTAir. 
Yes Thurs and Frid are best but we have got only 4 or 5 more away games in 12 and 2 already interstate trips. Maybe at best 2,more with Alice Springs  still included I think.
Actually we don't play bad at most venues so if we miss GWS away and of course no Geelong it's not a bad draw even if we played in Hobart.

Time to get real and raise the bar as in 2018.

There is no need to shorten Quarters...

If they do, for 2020;  I do not want it to continue into coming seasons.  They've stuffed the game enough.

I'd like to see the rules taken back to 1990 rules,  as they were then,  and reset.

Give the running of the game back to the people.   We are the buyers of the games,  and we know what we like.

Who needs fans. Simulate them with computers.

In fact, simulate entire games. Who needs players? Run the whole thing on computers. You could do the whole season in advance, one weekend in January, then dole out the results over 23 weeks. No injuries to real people, no players association, no players getting on the turps or worse. So profitable! I mean, so ... entertaining.

On the fixture, there is absolutely no excuses for us. 3 of them very winnable (would go so far to say should win), one of them we will be definite underdogs but it's at the MCG which helps us.

If last year was the odd one out, then we should be winning 3 out of 4 at least.

One advantage the AFL has going with the "make it up as you go" fixture is they might be able to be more flexible with how they create the draw through the year. If a team starts to show some excitement and entertainment they could be bumped into higher exposure timeslots. This should 100% be an aim for us to be pushing into the minds of Seven and the AFL to get us into those prime time slots by the end of the year.

Any F to Air is considered prime time ie 3.30pm in Sunday is a good time better than 1 pm or 6pm

It was in 1964 at least - where you are stuck.

Each quarter is 20 minutes plus time on. Until the AFL makes each quarter 17 minutes or 5 minutes or whatever!

You might as well say wc and Freo are the losers because they lose their considerable home ground advantage.

Where we are unlucky is having to play west coast in round one. Both in terms of the game coming straight after the announcement the season was on hold and having that game in Perth. It's possible, but probably unlikely, that no other teams will have to play there.

But personally I love the fact we only play each team once. It is how each season should be (with an expanded finals series of some sort). The finalists will all deserve their spot this year

Turns a near certain loss into a possibility.

Probably be the one year we escape a trip to Geelong seeing as though the marquee teams will be playing there as a once off.

I wouldn't talk to soon with regard to that. The AFL are just as likely to fixture games not involving Geelong at GMBH stadium to ease the load on the MCG and Marvel. I know who one of their preferred candidates would be.

Without getting too far ahead of myself we could end up playing there in October (perhaps with some type of home crowd).

Yep, death slot for crowds, but a boon for us in tv.  And we will be 4:1 away games, so if crowds come back, we may get better revenues from attendances than others
