DL, what's with the posting of a tweet or whatever, then copying & pasting the words as a separate statement, even though it's the same?

Just curious.

Just curious.

Two reasons.

1. I'm not sure if posting just the tweets/facebook posts keeps a searchable record for search engines linking back to Demonland. If at some future time those social media platforms disappear or the way they link old tweets/posts changes then that information is lost and any future generations reading Demonland won't be able to have a reference for or context to what is being talked about. I could just post the information in the tweets/FB posts without the original but I like to have the original Tweet/post available as the proof/source/credit for the information.

2. Some people use Adblockers. These Adblockers block the tweets/FB posts from appearing and hence if I just posted the Tweets/FB posts without copying the information then they would just see a blank post. Whilst I shouldn't assist people that choose to block our source of funding that helps pay for server & software costs I am being a nice guy.

People who use adblockers can whitelist (allow) ads from Demonland.com to still appear.

Unfortunately this season of footy will be cancelled. It would be ridiculous to go ahead with it given the current state of affairs.

Fortunately your opinion seems to be counter to those that run AFL.

Can’t wait for Sunday... Go Dees!

Its so when down the track multiple games have to be played within the one week shorter games are what is planned. Its being applied now to make it consistent across the season.

Yep, that makes sense, GT.

Yup,

I must say I like how the AFL are handling things.     Whether we get any games or not is another story.  I guess will find out in the next few hours.

Is that 16 x 30 second quarters ?

Kinda like NFL. Whack an ad in between each play.

I dont see the point in this unless we're going to be running a compressed schedule.

I doubt they'll return to longer quarters next year.

We've finally built up a fitness base this year too. Won't be as big of an advantage now.

It seems this is perfect timing for the AFL to implement Dangerball - shorter quarters, less games but Patrick still gets paid the same $$$$$$$.

They should make a decision and let everybody know otherwise they risk being like formula one.

When it gets to this stage nearly 24 hours out then Morrison should have made it for them as he should have F1...

Politics is still alive and well.

AFL AFL anyone there?

How hard is it to make a call FFS?

I can help, I have a coin here somewhere. Wait, damn dropped it, heads we play tails we play,,,,,,,,,yeah it's heads. Go Deees!

drag it out as long as possible AND YOU"RE STILL IN the media...

Come on Mr Gil. Are you that constipated. Just make a decision instead of looking likea schoolboy scratching his head over what flavour ice cream to eat.

There is one big difference. We already know there will be no spectators at the AFL games, so the decision directly affects fewer people. Sure, we would all like to know, but really the timing of the decision only affects the teams playing tomorrow, plus necessary officials and the AFL's "media partners".

It effects the fans...

In what way that it actually matters? It can muck up footy tipping competitions and planning for what to do on the weekend (or Thursday night), but what am I missing? How are fans affected?

The longer you take the more it looks like a really well thought out decision. We had so many things to consider etc.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
