If we are there won't be many others on it i reckon. No one is going anywhere and all meetings and events are pretty much cancelled.

You might well be right there 'bin'...

...but a lot of flights have also been cancelled. Virgin will be looking to fly only viable (full) routes.

If you offered me the flag this year I wouldn’t be all that excited in taking it, if every single game including the Grand final were lock outs.

If the season goes that far & we win it I will be ecstatic...some light in a dark year.

It would suck and sour it a little, but I would take it.

Sending a massive thank you to @Demonlandfor keeping this thread updated the past few days with every morsel of news.

Info has been appearing on here within minutes of being published elsewhere, and it’s been a huge time-saver to have it all contained in the one spot.

Bravo ??????

The AFL is in a good spot to accelerate Round 2. Why wouldn’t Collingwood vs Richmond and Carlton vs Western Bulldogs be brought forward to next Wednesday and Thursday night? They all play in the next 48 hours. Take advantage. ---- Sam Landsberger

I would like our boys to play Freo on Tuesday/Wednesday.

Reduce travel required for all (and fly back with 8 points!)

So what. He would have passed it on during the game in all probability

Those players all go home....

Yes, but i'm suggesting he caught it away from his club and team.  Possibly caught it at home SWYL.

Incubation period is way more than 24 - 30 hours.

Totally different circumstances. You cannot compare this to anything else.
Meanwhile an NRL player has tested positive AFTER playing a game...

That’s how this virus ? spreads

It is irresponsible madness to start the season now.

People have to rediscover books for awhile....

Who tested positive after playing?

Who?, or which club

Yes, but he is still a carrier playing a contact sport with 30 people in an enclosed space.
it is just crazy for these games to go ahead at this point in time.
Countries are locking down borders, but The AFL and NRL roll on.
Thailand today locked down all stadiums for 2 weeks, i am sure it will be extended. They are just getting serious now

We Will Not Stand Still Said Gil.

Has a nice ring to it.

I didn't take too much notice of the finer points.Only interested in the Storm or NRL Stars.

Now I cannot find the story, which I read earlier today.

Should government continue?   Should hospitals continue.    Should emergency services continue?

I think we will catch CoVid 19,  wherever we find it.  At home or at play.

Yes to the Government , Hospitals and Emergency Services. They are paramount.
Football is not.
It’s entertainment and as soon as the crowds were banned the whole thing should be suspended.

The easiest way to catch this Corona is through prolonged personal contact.
That’s our game...

Probably because the two players are confirmed as negative to Covid19.

I'm not unhappy the AFL has gone ahead, gives us some hope and something new to read.

I'm also over the sensationalist reporting of this current epidemic.

It's what has brought on the panic buying and increased fear.  It is something we've never faced before I agree

I don't see how banning kids from Community football has made them safer than attending school with 500-1000 kids in close proximity.

and I don't see how the players health is under any bigger threat by playing football than the general publics would be by attending packed shopping centres or traveling on public transport on mass.

The players playing or not, isn't going to lead us to the scenario which is occurring in Italy or Iran currently

take that COVID! you self-replicating mofo

COVID is not the name of the virus.  The name of the virus is coronavirus.  COVID-19 is the disease the virus causes.

No NRL player as far as is public knowledge. The story was about an amateur rugby player.

It highlighted the fact that you can feel fine, play one day and the next day test positive. In a contact sport there is the very real possibility that you just infected your teammates and opposition and support staff.

They then spread to family and friends.

Every other aspect of life is being told not to be in this situation

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
