He's going to be a weapon this year VDB, looking forward to the carnage.

Huge thanks to our track reporters ........ greatly appreciated by all Demonlanders, and even more so when they deliver [mostly] good news! ?

The AFL might request Vandenberg wear a warning sign on his jumper this year.

'Tackle at own peril'

May did say he was a ‘strong dog’ or something along those lines.

I listened to that track, all 22 mins of it , a couple of days ago. Good cooking song.

HB told me at the family day he is going for round 3. He looked like he was serious. one of the most gifted players ever.

Wow... that’s big news. That would vfl and IF all went well that might translate into round 9 or so. Like everyone else here my fingers are crossed.

That's fantastic and I hope it's realistic and not overly optimistic.

I was at a function in Perth on Preliminary Final day and Jake Lever said he was aiming for a Round 1 return in 2019. He returned in Round 12.

Remember when Trac did his ACL before the start of his debut year and wanted to come back by round 23 and play? Haha, 12 month minimum for ACLs ol Jake the snake should know that

Would you even play him in the VFL? It’s like having Ablett on your list. Most talented player we have got. Oliver, Petraccaand Gawn are not in the same league.

Yeah he’s gotta get some run in his legs in the closet thing to an afl match before he actually plays one, imagine the heart break of a senior call up and doing the calf in the first 5 minutes.

Given he's not even in enough condition to join the main rehab group this seems a tad optimistic. Goody was saying mid year Pert was saying 4 or 5 games for the season would be a big win which would put it at about round 22. I'd be very very happy if it was around round 16 to 18. I'd be ecstatic if it was mid year. I'd be very very worried if it was round 3.  I don't care how long it takes as long as it means he firstly comes back at all and secondly comes back and never breaks down again.

I reckon Goody and Pert are lowering expectations wowing mid-season or 6 game season, and Harley being optimistic re- round 3...

So round 6 (vs Tigers) or Round 7 (vs Dons) seems a possibility...

Bring it on!

That Lockhart report has me worried about a torn pec. Hope it’s nothing.

With Hannan I just want to see him running smoothly rather than so stiff and awkwardly. Is he starting to move better?

With Lockhart there was no indication of a pec, he pointed to his bicep, nothing more.

Hannan is running quite freely but I've seen players do the same rehab routine as him and do it for 4 or 5 weeks (Tomlinson) so it's really hard to tell when he'll be back.

Love the optimism from Harley but I think realistically he won't be out on a footy field for at least a little while after that. The cub should definitely be mindful of him trying to push too hard, particularly if they can see him getting excited to be back out there.

Let's not get too carried away, I'd be hugely surprised if he spent less than 4 or 5 weeks at VFL level before even being considered for the 1s. He spent a lot of time in the WAFL before getting a game for a poor Freo side

A couw of thoughts from those clips.

Firstly combined in less than 8 hours they have had over 1000 views. Given they are in no way notable, it shows the demand for video content. And quality is not a worry.

Secondly the jackson v may clip shows msgs strength but also highlights how quick jackson is to recover. He will be tough match up up forward. If you don't out mark him and the ball hits the ground he is likely to get to it first.

He probably changed his mind and didn't want to be involved after seeing how we played.

On point 1: Given more job losses in journalism today the reporter should splash a big AFL Media watermark on them and start the clip with a sponsors message.

Or to be more cynical maybe the club should ban filming of training by AFL reporters without a sponsors message.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
