Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Some insane profiteering going on:  A 1 Lt bottle of Aqium hand sanitzer which retails for $20.00 (but very hard to get) just sold on ebay for $390 after 66 bids.  I guess it is worth a lot more on the black market here or overseas.

Hope the government catches the folks who are clearing stores then selling stuff on ebay or on the black market.  A scum thing to do; be it medication, toilet paper, Aqium or whatever.

There are always some real basta..s around.

I'm a bit embarrassed by buying an extra 5kg of rice for a friend in a mining town whose supermarket has no stock due to the panic.

Can't imagine the mindset of people who profiteer from the suffering of others

You shouldn't feel any guilt for helping out a friend, it's the black marketeers who deserve to be smashed!  If you see any such activity, catch a screen image with person's name and then name and shame them in the public space (Facebook, Twitter, wherever) and there must be somewhere these things can be reported.

Why do people revert to neanderthal behaviours in times like this?

I've got (wifes) family in Philippines who had just had their islands locked down for 2 weeks and a father in law on deaths door from tuberculosis.. I'm bloody nervous and my wife was balling her eyes out.

The locals have blackbanned the entire family because one cousin has a Korean boyfriend.

Hard times bring out the best, but certainly the worst in people.

Take care of your oldies guys, because this thing is coming for them.

In Taiwan a bit over two weeks ago and there was none of the kind of behaviour we're witnessing.  No panic buying, no fighting over toilet rolls or hand sanitiser.  They take all of the necessary precautions and get on with their lives with no fuss.  Similar population to ours, yet the 4th most condensed population on the planet, yet their case count is maybe one sixth of ours... they're obviously doing something right.

Oh, and I'm the oldie in this family.

Aussies going prehistoric over the exact same illness.

Do the Taiwanese watch as much T.V as we do here? The media is hyping the bejeezus out of this. I'm sure that contributes to the hoarding.

Have never seen politicians creating such panic as as have the PM and the even worse state premiers.

Andrews..." we will hit the worst in June when thousands of patients will need intensive care"

Riddle me this...why should the per capita result be much worse than China which extrapolates to a total case number of less than 0.001% Even if we get ten times what China reported so say 0.01%.(26000 Australian total) with deaths one twentieth of that. Where do you get "thousands in Victoria alone needing intensive care" when the published data shows that most will not require hospitalisation.

( Please excuse if I have some zeros in the wrong place but the basic premise holds true)

Yeah, they do watch as much... the difference is that their media take a much more level headed and informative approach to the reporting with lots of public service announcements re the precautions they should be adhering to.

Agree no need for @faultydetto feel guilty.  We need such people to help each other.

The government is going after the hoarders and profiteers.  AFP pursuing hoarders for the black market  Dutton:  "He said Australians who had photos or information such as vehicle registration numbers of mass hoarders should contact Crime Stoppers".

There seems to be a criminal element behind the hoarding etc. Let's hope enough aussies report the profiteers.  I certainly hope the AFP is looking at ebay!  Its plain to see there.

Yes this goes beyond Politics

My local Supermarket in Elwood had a full on punch out last weekend

there is no need for panic buying

I am not looking forward to going home next week

But Airports are going to close soon

Just saw this on Facebook (yes, I know!) and thought it worth sharing:

I was just told that a bus load of people of Asian appearance were pulled over between Geelong and Melbourne as the bus had a flat tyre and the Police saw it before the driver was aware. When everyone exited the bus they had bulk loads of basic essentials and on inspection the bus was loaded with such products.

After a brief discussion it was found that it was a tour bus that is due to leave Melbourne airport this afternoon and it was always the intention to buy up all the products they could carry on the plane and were then going to leave all their clothing behind in a charity bin. The coach driver says it was planned to happen several weeks ago and wasn’t a strange occurrence for overseas visitors to do so but has just come at the wrong time, as not only do they now need what we all need but they have had to source it from country towns instead of the city as the shops have all run out.

Anyhow as the policeman was boarding the bus to inspect it a lady started pulling his leg just like I am doing to you now. See ! It’s easy for you to all start spreading rubbish and the one thing that you have all forgotten is the saying “You can only half believe something you hear, but fully believe something you see. But if you see it, make sure it’s a true story before someone half believes it”.

Deadly to retirement aged folk, but ridiculously overhyped compared to seasonal flu.

I wonder what the difference is this time?

In Malaysia at present. Markets are well stocked and the supermarkets (there are not that many) are well stocked including loads of toilet paper.

Have made the decision to stay in our holiday house for the next few months.

Malaysian government closed all non essential businesses the day before yesterday.Travel outside your house is supposed to be limited.

In a country that exists for coffee shops and food courts some are finding it  a challenge.

Haha, could be worse.

Have you been to the Solomon Islands before?

I'd rather have the virus than be house bound there.

Think the Gold Coast my friend. Definitely not the Solomons

A big condo right on the beachfront with a full size pool. Life's not tough here I can assure you.

Did I mention the 500Mb speed fibre internet for A$40 a month (kayo via the VPN) and of course there's always the bum gun in every toilet if you run out of toilet paper.

Take care.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
