Is it just me or are the umps paying frees that wouldn't be paid in the mens game. Just let the game flow.

It's not you but put in perspective the conditions are contributing to quite a few head highs. If they are there, then pay them.

It’s ours unless the Dogs can kick 5 goals in the last quarter... highly unlikely given the conditions.

Well, this all seems to be going according to plan.  Just scrape our way through the first few rounds until we get some match fitness into our underdone players and get Lauren Pearce & co back.

On a side note, it does seem to be an AFL tradition to in some way make a mess of the women's fixture/ladder.  I love that after the roud one win we were out of the 'conference' qualifying line, while the team we beat managed to be inside their conference qualifying group.

But the quirks of the fixture means it would be very valuable to pile on a few more goals late in this game and try to bury the Bulldogs, particularly given their first game percentage surge.  It's a genuine 8-point game and in a short season percentage is much more likely to play a part breaking deadlocks.

been really impressed with our full back gabbie colvin, new player to the club and got her for p77, also the two irish girls have been impressive and will only get better, get on the girls for the flag this year.

Is anyone else confused with the colour clash? Surely we should be wearing the all red back.

I don't care that there are people out there rubbishing this game.  I enjoyed watching tonight.  Our pressure was great.

Maybe because it's just great to see Melbourne win if it's the male or female team.

Plus we have some awesome players & a great leader

A good win driven with intensity at the ball and good fitness that allowed them to run out he game in difficult wet conditions.

Well done.

Good stuff, Shelley Scott deserved a goal, thought she had a ripper of a game up forward.

Considering the conditions I thought our skills were pretty good. I think the comments from the detractors are so influenced by the male version of the game, they need to put that aside. Often the Woman's game is slower in movement which allows reaction time in the mental game to be enhanced. I think that is why Daisy is so valuable. It always has more positives when you win but I enjoyed the Dees woman's side effort tonight as much for the plan and the execution as anything.

A good win for the ladies. Tackling pressure was great and we stopped the dogs getting any quick clearances. Again Hore was a great contributor and Newman played a great game. Paxman is a class above all others and Daisy was fantastic. Cunningham and Zanker had quiet ones so it was good to see others like Scott contribute on the forward line.

I hope the men can gain some of the intensity and desire that the girls show.

Just watched the second win for our Women’s team... fantastic win against the other inaugural women’s team ...the Bulldogs. Thought the standard had definitely improved last year but found this game very enjoyable to watch. Are the skills there ...not  yet ...but intent & willingness...100%...What I love...the passion for the jumper...something exciting happening this season ...Go Dees !!

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
