Has anyone got an update on Vanders?

You must have known something was up because he's not training today.

Demon royalty is a big call for vandenBerg! Good player but doesn't quite have the runs on the board yet I wouldn't have thought.

The report from training wasn't that he wasn't training, it was that he hobbled towards AAMI from training.

This bloke is like Tingay. Great when he's in the team. But rarely in it.

He played 162 games.

Was very consistent until falling through a windows...devastating blow but that was our luck in the mid 90s.

  • Demonland changed the title to vandenBerg Update?

AFL website said he left the track early with a "right foot complaint"

Not convinced either of his feet are right

Sadly, it’s damaged goods at this stage.
Any game Vanders plays will be a bonus.

A shame because he plays hard

Two left feet?

Uum, as I interpreted the information; I think he stubbed his big toe. Now that could be a career ending injury or not. Guessing and invoking the syndrome is a pointless practice. But what the hell, go ahead, we all need someone to ............ (please insert appropriate adjective)

I'm not picking on you, but his first year was 1989 when he played 12 games. His big miss years were '92 when he played 6, '97 when he played 3 and '99 when he played 9...

Merely a realist Moonie

i want September Footy and nothing less

Unfortunately Injury Prone

Dont hang ur hat on this Bloke..

And we gave him ..What a three year year Deal??

Typical MFC

Poor Vanders. I reckon it just isn't going to work for him. I hope I'm wrong because the whole team plays differently with him around which is a big statement but true.

And I agree about Tingay. He was an absolute gun ruined by injury. He may have played 192 games, but he could easily have played 300. And half of those 192 were under an injury cloud, returning from injury, or after an interrupted pre-season.

Everyone seems to be making assumptions, fact is we don't know what the issue is. Someone could've stood on his foot for all we know.

Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
