Training Ground?

A complete move to Casey is the most obvious and financially beneficial move that could be made.

Is Geelong too far from Melbourne?

Use the location to Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula as a asset

$20M could buy you a decent helicopter service for many many years.

Not as silly as it might sound

Wasn't actually the question.

Do staff...I.e. Admin want to relocate to Waverley ?

They might ... i don't know. Does anyone ? 🤷

I can understand why admin want to move.

You only have to see the broom cupboards that they currently have to work in, which are spread across multiple locations at the MCG.

Honestly, it is only used because of the peppercorn rental which is charged to us, but given the conditions...it should only be peppercorn.

I don't know what the admin conditions at Waverley are like, but the reason Hawthorn are moving is that the FOOTBALL facilities are sub-standard in 2026.

I think the big difference is we have Casey, which by all reports is an elite facility just not an elite location. Whereas previously Waverley was the hawks only option from my understanding.

I think it’s a good short term option until we can get Caulfield sorted.

I have a feeling DJ that if we move to Waverley it reduce the need for Caufield and the timeline will increase. Staying put keeps the pressure on the AFL and the state government. Even though I don't believe the state government feels much pressure.

I see it a little differently, but all speculation at this point. I think the government want us out of Gochs’s for the tennis next year as they can bring in more money that way. So perhaps if we move to Waverley we can get government buy in on the funding element for Caulfield.

What money does the Govt directly get out of tennis?

Its not up to the staff to make that decision.

What do the two things have to do with each other? The AFL and the government aren't going to care where we are. Furthermore, Waverley is owned by the AFL. We would be hosted their at their pleasure.

Forever, it takes away the need for us at Caufield. They can then put off any changes at Caufield. They haven't got the money needed to develop it to the way the current plan looks. I would be extremely careful about moving to waverley we could easily be stuck there for decades / forever. It's also the [censored] weather location in Melbourne.

Exactly I would avoid it like the plague.

Come on, being stuck at Waverley would be better than being stuck at Gosch’s…

We have no cards to play if we move 'Distr'...the only cards we hold are if we stay.

If they are so interested in Gosch's let the Government push through the Caulfield deal & get it moving for us then we can shift to Waverley for the interim couple of years.

Everyone Happy...

That’s what I mean. We would be discussing moving to Waverley, but contingent on the funding for Caulfield.

Agreed, need to hold our ground at Gosch's until we get what we need from the Government for Caufield.

The same argument could just as easily be made for Casey.

Gosch's is alright.

The vibe of being around other professional sporting groups must be uplifting. The quiet of Waverly or Casey, I don’t know.

I still advocate for premises around the AAMI Park. Weren't the carparks being looked at as development possibilities?

Main problem with Gosch's is access to facilities, the booking and competing for use with those other groups.

and the lease runs out soon, and it is expensive and parking is limited

With the Reds (rugby Union team) vacating, wouldn’t AAMI want to keep us with a reasonable contract? Tennis Australia don't need AAMI, only the Paddock if we vacate.

Plenty of 2 hour parking in the side streets around school near the Botanical, or it's $1 an hour on Alexander. Won't Caulfield be similar.

Apparently the lease is not cheap and they rarely go down. Some of the staff have told me that parking is difficult.

Caulfield, the parking should be much easier, and i assume on site.

Is there a possibility that Waverly would replace the use of Gosch's paddock/AAMI/MCG precinct while we still utilised Casey too?

don't forget - AFL, AFLW, VFL, VFLW

Plenty of parking at Casey and plenty of room to build an administration block.
