Any half way decent civil group could use cut and cover together with precast sections.

The tunnel should take no more than 2 weeks...at worst.

Not with CFMEU labor they couldn't

Is that a cross between a city and a site?

For reference.

On the website under Club there is a drop down menu called 'creating our home' which gives a picture of the set up from what appears as it was in 2024, but we know the admin is not going in the location shown on the map and is set for the eastern event space. if you open the image in another window you can enlarge it to read easier. Hopefully at the AGM there is an updated version of the map. There is also a lot of Q&A about various concerns there. Probably good to read it before the AGM.

The facilities look pretty vacant, G, in contrast to the stack of vehicles evident in google satellite view. Are they vacant? It would remove facilities relocation from the issues to be faced.

Actually... nor am I.

Thinking it's stalled...not stopped... but stalled.

Stalled! What's the time frame on stalled? When does stalled become stopped? I have no idea but imo my gut tells me it is closer to stopped than stalled. I cannot get passed the problem " where is the money coming from".

'Stalled', you say?

Well, it is there for horses...

Sadly I think you are right. Even if they had the money as you say it is unlikely in a election year would a labour government come up with 10's of millions for a silver tails club. No votes there but a substantial loss of support from the cross party voters is likely It is said as little as 5% of voters change governments, their votes are what a labour government needs to keep or as many as possible.

Going by the video, what are the chances of one of our players becoming the first to be ruled out through Lyme disease?

Nothing inside. Empty stables.

Actually, there’s a sign up on temporary fencing that warns of contamination of some sort. I’ll get a photo….

Bloke tells me anything to do with horses means Tetanus. Could be that. Otherwise, maybe reps from the Filth had toured the site....

I reckon there might be a requirement to keep the trees....

It could be asbestos that the signs are for but generally they have asbestos signs

I recently ventured out to the Kennedy Community Centre to check out Hawthorn’s new training base.

I then did some work to see if I could roughly answer three questions:

1.       Would a Hawthorn (or Essendon) sized training facility fit on the south-east corner of the Caulfield site?

Yes. The footprint of Hawthorn's main training and administration building is about 9,300 sqm, adding car parking etc, it fits on our site.

We, of course will have our ovals inside the racetrack, so there is the added cost of a tunnel. But the walk from the buildings to the ovals would "only" be about 200 metres.

2.       How much would it cost, how would it be funded?

Hawthorn states on their website that their facility cost $113mil. Below is a table of what I think our new development would cost and assuming we could garner the same level of government funding, what the club need to come up with.

There are two things worth noting in the above comparison:

a.       We will not own the land, so unlike Hawthorn, the club will have an ongoing lease cost that we will have to fund each year.

b.       The reason the above numbers are less than Hawthorn’s is that they had to build an additional grandstand on their second oval for their women’s program. We will continue to use Casey as our second campus.

3.       When could we realistically expect to be in the new home base?

Optimistically, late 2028, more likely late 2029.

Honestly, the amount of money being splashed around on these training centres makes me sick. $110M is like 1/10th of what Tassie are proposing to build an entire stadium. People are arcing up about the money being spent on the Tassie stadium, but not excessive Taj Mahal type training facilities of the Hawks, Essendon, Geelong,Collingwood etc.

All this money being splashed around, while country and suburban footy scrapes for funds.

The AFL need to put in-place some kind of equalisation measure and cap on excessive facilities development. Obviously the big clubs have already cashed in, so they need to impose a tax on the to provide a similar level of amenities for those that haven't yet.
