Has anybody noticed that our performance at the MCG seems to have improved significantly since Gosch’s Paddock was resized to match the MCG? Would this make any difference? I guess it can’t hurt, but there are undoubtedly several factors at play…

Certainly can't hurt. There would be some kind of compounding effect training on it week after week as well.

Any further news about a Home Base in Caulfield?

Thought I should ask as it is something I am extremely passionate about in regards to our beloved Melbourne Football Club finally having a proper Home Base.

Alan Richardson flagged yesterday on SEN that things were progressing well in regards to Caulfield…..

I noticed this article about Hawthorn's trials and tribulations building their (3rd!) new home base in Dingley. Not that I have much sympathy for them! 😒

Here is the link to the article: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1031238/hawthorn-hawks-committed-to-new-base-despite-woes-main-contender-emerges-for-ceo-role

Anyway, fingers crossed we hear some good news soon about what is happening regarding our home base at Caulfield Racecourse? 🤞

ive finally updated my technology and am able to comment again.

i have followed tis discussion for some time and am an unashamed supporter of Fishermans Bend location.

As a proposed development area with an existing development board and proposed public transport there are many attractions

If you havent been down there just do yourself a favour and drive around the total area and then look at a map to see the obvious potential.

I have thought of gathering a team of Demonland expertise to prepare a briefing paper for a community entertainment facility incorporating a training ground, all gymnasium and associated football requirements including an administration centre. With theatre spaces for cinema as well live streaming of away matches this could be a site for members when the MCG is full at finals time.

Anyone wanting to contribute thoughts feel free to go for it.

FB is one of the largest urban renewal projects with anticipated 80,00 population. this community will need liesure and entertainment facilities. It also provides a local supporter base

Soo... where we at with our home training base?

Fishermen's Bend is as far away from the demon supporter base as is Casey. To me it feels like another heartless Docklands.  Sorry it is a No from me.

Again, why does it matter that it is away from the ‘supporter base’? You’re not welcome there outside of open trainings ahead of our patented straight sets exit from finals.

Correct, port melb vfl ground is ripe for development same theme song almost same colours … very tricky with our alignment with Casey..  would need to be a standalone but plenty of room. FB will be a new suburb but it’s attached to old port melb that’s the difference…

Huh?! Fisherman's Bend?

I thought we are now fully investigating the option of the Caulfield Racecourse for the Melbourne Football Club's Home Base?

Anyway, I guess we should hopefully hear some news at the upcoming Melbourne Football Club's AGM?

The matter of our Home Base should be at the top of our agenda.

We’ve waited so long, it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that we’ll have Caulfield Racecourse as our eastern base, with FB as our western one 😁

If we had a proper home base we wouldn't go out in straight sets, we'd be the undefeated champions of the universe!

Not if it’s more than 45 mins from the CBD we won’t! Rah rah fart

Rubbish So if we had a home base  since 1964 we would be leading the AFL/VFL Premiership winners on about  20 flags.

Sorry  FB is a [censored] to get to.

Wont matter to me but if im a player needing to get somewhere  to train at the times normally scheduled then FB is a disaster.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
