Just noticed Andrews has promised $6mill to redevelop Box Hill City oval.

I love the old ground but another $6 mill to the Hawks seems a bit much.

This is a club that was late to the party and not a bit interested in the women's game but reaps the rewards now.

Must be trying to win/save votes.

I just learned that our president is part of the Wyndham Council and she is also working on the project for the new stadium for the Western United (A-League).

Should this be an indication that something will definitely happen under her tenure at the MFC?

LinkedIn suggests that our President is CEO - Melbourne Sports Centres (MSAC) - Full Time.

I would think that WU will get money before the MFC in fact will probably have it built before the MFC. The reason is not only money but the location. WU are not trying to build 5 minutes from the G. There are lots of locations in the west available.

I say we drain the Yarra and put our training ground there. Fat lot of good it does the way it is at the moment. The majority of residents with property looking onto the Yarra in South Yarra and Toorak are probably Dees supporters anyway, so there’d be little if any fuss.

Definitely one of the more innovative suggestions.. we could simply put it into a big underground drain for a kilometre or so

If there were ever any doubts that there are no votes in the MFC it has been proven beyond doubt. The two areas where Labor lost votes  is in the west and to the greens in the inner suburbs. From that we can bet there will be plenty spent in the west. Just watch the WU new stadium fly. And green space in inner Melbourne for a MFC home will not fly. It's is time the board looked seriously at alternatives to the G proximity plan if they want something this decade.

Unfortunately can’t see a footy ground or training facility at this proposed development over the rail yards near Fed Square by Matthew Guy.

Disappointed to see the development isn't billions of dollars of car parks, but I guess carparks near train stations in local electoratea is a federal government responsibility.

OD, I would think that the votes for providing the MFC with a home in the MCG precinct would translate into votes in the Inner South. The major parties are not likely to win inner city seats in the future but I would think Labor would have picked up votes in the Inner South if they had pledged a home for the MFC in the MCG precinct without losing anything in the city.

I know if vote for em if they committed money to the building of a home base.

IMO that would be  negated by people not wanting to lose green space. The MFC lost out when we turned down Olympic Park. Trying to get something now is extremely difficult if not impossible.
