Does the spat inside the MR affect us? Their massive debts, their revolving door CEOs, the chairman issues??

If anything offering a stable long term tenancy without the drama of the MRC should make us an appealing prospect for the Trust. Surely they look at the MRC and think what are these muppets doing.

have you that past the cfmeu?

Move some VFL/AFLW games to Port Melbourne, Caulfield will be constructed 6 months ahead of schedule 😁

Of course it will affect our club, our new neighbours, gambling on horses.

True. The only hassle is the car park we want to build on is currently leased by the MRC.

Wouldn’t think so.

Mind blowing the oldest club in the AFL doesn’t have a home and doesn’t appear to be close.

Not good enough.

I haven't missed the facepalm emoji but this screams out for its restoration.

Well that aligns with something I was told recently.

Apparently as of the 1st of December (which is when the senior players return for preseason) *Gosch’s will no longer be used for training and Waverley will be the venue instead.

This isn’t official yet but that’s purported to be the plan.

This arrangement will run for approximately two years which is when they expect Caulfield to be completed.

Again, not official. Just something I was told, then this morning I was told similar by a different person.

If the training at Waverley news is true, Kev and I will no longer be able to furnish training reports. It’s not just the distance to travel, it’s the fact that the new regime is looking to have closed sessions only, like at Casey.

I believe currently Waverley is open to spectators but that’s nothing some temporary fencing can’t solve.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see 🤷‍♀️

Maybe look at the Real Estate website to see which properties on the boundary might be up for rent in the interim! Kidding of course.

That’s next level nuffiness. Even for me 😅

Well Demonland should probably band together and chip in to rent one of those flats that overlook for ghosty so she can do her reports

But there’s also Kev, Slarti and Harvey Wallbanger. It would have to have at least four bedrooms coz as much as I love them I ain’t sharing a room with any of them 😝

Are chooks permitted?

Not much of a yard, but there is a deck off the two lower floor bedrooms. Actually, that floorplan is a really weird layout..... It is a 4 bedroom though, if you sacrifice the upstairs family room to a bedroom. Just doesn't have a door.

The mind boggles, absolutely.

The reports would be interesting, even those about training.....

So is Waverley an option until Caulfield is built in 2040

Yes. That Dees contingent including Steven Smith, Steven King, Jack Viney, Brad Green, Alan Richardson and Paul Guerra that toured Waverely a few months back was for a push to be put there for the foreseeable future to have everyone under one roof until Caulfield is built.

As long as the reports are on my desk by 4pm it’s all good. Sharing a house with a person called Wallbanger might be a challenge though.

I believe the entire project should be able to be completed in 2 years of the announcement.

Assuming we get that at the AGM, I would hope it’s ready by the 2028 pre season.

Be great if so, but is this just own opinion or sourced info?

My opinion.

Won’t take two years to prepare a couple of ovals and build a couple of buildings, one being only a sort of large indoor sports hangar with some medical and coaching meeting rooms etc.

So the team will be able to train there in 2028 is your supposition. Not that the whole club facilities will be complete.

I think there are expectations to be managed here

Yes, if they are ready to go when they make the announcement, I believe the whole project can be completed in 2 years.

They can put up a 10 floor building in a year, so 2 years would be ample time to get it done, IF as I said, they are ready to go at announcement time.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
