Are we plotting a late heist?

Pick 8 to Sydney for Papley & Pick 62.

Pick 62 for Josh Jenkins or Levi Casboult.

I think the Dees will get a big forward.

TMac, Weideman and Joel Smith injuries this year left us exposed.

Tim Smith and Declan Keilty both gone.

Then again we have Petty!

Think you can always just upgrade rookies or use picks at the end of the draft. Salary cap is probably the bigger concern, to land someone big we'd have to trade someone out. 2 deals from nowhere in the last 24 hours of trade period - seems unlikely

Had always thought you knew what was going on, guess I was wrong

I'd rather Martin than Papley.

But the idea of going to the draft with 3 + 8 gets me thoroughly aroused...

Except we can't, we have to find a third pick

Yeah, we don't have to use a pick to upgrade a rookie anymore right? So technically we could draft 2 players, then just upgrade a rookie, and that counts as our 3?

If you can show me that in the rules I will happily eat humble pie

Only pick Green with 3 if he's worth pick 3. They may let him pass, with the knowledge that the rank of available draftees moves up a spot.

However, if they do match a bid at 3 they'll use up pick 6, which means 8 moves up a spot.

From what I’ve read he’s highly rated and it’s believed GWS will match any bid on him. Not fussed if we don’t risk it though and take Young with our first pick

I can't find any rule that limits the draft to 5 rounds, nor the picks attributed to rookie players any longer.

Last year GC, Coll, Western Bulldogs (2 rookie upgrades), Geelong (2 rookie upgrades), Port and Melbourne all had 5th round picks and rookie elevations. Toby Bedford was our 5th round pick last year.

So what pick did we use to elevate Corey Maynard?

It was a question, not a statement. I know they changed the rules around rookie lists and elevations but couldn't remember exactly what the rules were now.

What draft pick did Richmond use to elevate Castagna just before the 2018 season started then dworship?

The Giants deal for next years first rounder is not a great deal for us.

it's likely a late first round pick in a heavily compromised draft, it's probably only worth a second rounder.

Much better off demanding Finlayson or Caldwell and pick 6

We're in the best position possible going into last day of trade period.

Two extremely valuable picks are on the table if the right offer pops up.

We'll be sitting back, cross-legged with cigar in mouth knowing that if nothing comes up, we go to the draft with two top 10 picks a year after making a prelim.

Added to that is the fact that we've addressed a problem area with the additions of Langdon and to a lesser extent Tomlinson. No longer will we have to play inside midfielders on a wing.

And this is all without mentioning the fact that we have a pre-season with Burgess coming up. One of the most highly respected fitness coaches around.

I'm putting a cheeky $20 on us for top 4 next year.

Dees.

Bloody happy clappers

I don't understand how Sydney could even consider two first round picks for a guy who's not made it onto the ground in 2 years

We need to have 3 selections at the draft but rookie elevations can count as one of the 3.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
