spirit of norm smith 16,679 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Young and Ash would be super additions. We NEED elite ball use (Young) and pace (Ash). Pick 28 now sees us looking at small indigenous forwards like Kozzy Pickett or Elijah Taylor. Thats a top draft.
Murph1524 52 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Doerre stating on his twitter that Young may drop to pick 10 potentially. Sydney and Fremantle only teams that may get in the way according to him. Obviously thats an amazing result and the recent pick swap makes even more sense 2

spirit of norm smith 16,679 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Wow. Young at 10. That’s an amazing slide. His ball delivery is elite. His intercept marking. His leadership. His aerobic base is strong. 1
Murph1524 52 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 I'm punting that other teams might have their favourite recruit in mind and none of them are eyeing off a back flanker. One can dream 1
Ted Lasso 19,586 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 I will eat my hat if Hayden Young gets to pick 10. surely Fremantle would grab him at pick 7 if he even gets that far.

Lucifers Hero 40,742 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Knightmare's preferred players by top 10 pick holder's before the Melb trade for pick 10. GC - Rowell GC - Anderson Mel - Jackson GWS - Ash GWS --Green-- Syd - Flanders Ade - McAsey Fre - Stephens Mel - Young Car - Weightman Whether it is Young or Kemp someone will likely slide to pick 10 depending on who Freo take at 8. Funny about all the angst on us 'allowing' GWS to potentially get Green and a top 5 player. We have just being party to Freo getting two top 10 players and Henry. No angst?: 2
Ted Lasso 19,586 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 I wonder if part of the deal with Freo included a hand shake deal to pass on Young if he were to make it that far? 2
Vineytime 855 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 The latest phantom draft from Jay Clark @ the Herald Sun. If correct, Dees rate Weightman very highly..
Demon Disciple 12,537 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 When it comes to the draft, Jay Clark has as much intel as the majority of posters on this board. 1 1

It would be an extremely dissapointing result if pick 8 resulted in us missing out on Hayden Young at pick 8. i personally don't understand the trade because it's a shallow draft and pick number 8 is worth a lot more than pick number 10 this year. anything after pick 20 is basically speculative. i think this has been a bad move by the club and based on that will cost us a very good player who has attributes that our side DESPERATELY needs. 4
Davos 936 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Hayden Young - not actually that good. 1 1

While I don’t like it, I actually think Clark is on the money here. Be very prepared that it’s Jackson and Weightman that we take with our first two picks. I think a bid for Henry will come within the first 13 picks which Clark hasn’t factored in though.
Skuit 10,031 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 This is my public declaration that I no longer care who we pick. There's nothing to be gained from an emotional investment over something I know so little about. Either I will be (meaninglessly) disappointed or happy on draft night. Then in a couple of years be wrong, feel pointlessly vindicated, or carry a grudge/regret. It took me years to get over us selecting Toumpas ahead of Wines. Mid-field explosions! I then sat out the 2015 draft build-up (after briefly backing Parish) and that worked out okay. I desperately wanted Petruccelle in 2017, but I'm pretty chuffed with Fritsch. Let the cobblers cobble I say, and Welcome to Demonland . . . Whoever. 10
durango 2,024 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 The only science in picking players in a draft is gut feel but some times the recruiters are overruled by the coach or some other member of the list management
spirit of norm smith 16,679 Posted November 23, 2019 Posted November 23, 2019 Ouch. Jackson at 3. Weightman ahead of Kemp and Stephens. That’s taking a punt with both low picks. 1 1

Rednblueriseing 868 Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 (edited) Really don't understand the fuss over Jackson, we have the best ruckman in the comp and a guy who is putting in the hard yards this preseason to give him a chop out and play forward (preuss), we should take best available with picks 3 and 10 I'd go with Flanders and one of Serong or Stephens, the have a look whos available at p28, develop the midfield and forwards and we maybe able pick up a ruckman late in the draft this year or next. Big chance Jackson will want to go back home after his done his apprenticeship under Max in a few years Edited November 24, 2019 by Rednblueriseing 2

I think we really have to top up our mids so we bat deeper then anyone else and work on the ruck and forwards with picks outside the first round. The way I see it we should be challenging for a flag with the talent we have and not let it go to waste

The way I see it we should be challenging for a flag with the talent we have and not let it go to waste We've had mixed results. Yes, the jury is still out on the Weid, while we've reached for others like Lucas Cook and Luke Molan when we didn't need to. However, even though it was the mini draft, we nailed the Hogan pick, plucked an AA ruckman out of the third round of the draft, got Tom McDonald with an even later pick... and so on. While I'm only just beginning to warm to the potential selection of Jackson, I can understand the reasoning. As much as we want to, Gawny can't play forever. We can see the influence he and guys like Grundy have and we can draft Jackson and give him time to develop into the player we want him to be.
