If we take 3 to the draft, unless we have some sort of sweet deal with GWS  i think we have to make a bid on their academy guy if he is rated that highly. We of all clubs cant afford to miss any opportunity to slow down the growth of the AFL" pet clubs. Why on earth would we allow an easy extra hit at the first round for GWS if we can prevent it?

If he is rated in the top 5 and fills a need, i say we bid and make GWS pay a price. We havent exactly made like bandits in our trades with GWS, so its time to get a bit back.

Think they are well ahead with us giving them Kelly for Salem and Tyson. Time for us to win one with them.

Yes agree. Green is the right guy for us, good pedigree, quality person, size ready to play, hard at it and competitive. Large family support  in Melbourne

Priority should be Ben King. GC to on trade Pick 3 for Brad Crouch. Adelaide deal with GWS.

If this is no chance;

We trade Pick 3 and 40 to GWS for Pick 12, 18, Midfielder Jye Caldwell and Zac Langdon.

Or

trade Pick 3 and 40 to GWS for Picks 12, 18, GWS 2020 First Rounder and Zac Langdon.

Shattered but that's the way it goes. They should of given the priority next year.

So who is it Ash, Serong, Young or someone else? Thoughts?

This is an absolute farce. AFL is a crock of shocky fwits. How the hell do the suns only 7-8 years in after a mass of draft etc concession, end up getting the same again because they created their own rabble.

I am over AFL and have decided to watch and follow NRL. Yes not perfect but a dog [censored] on the carpet is better than the knobs that run and have ruined this game.

Will keep an eye on dees but will not renew membership, watch games or buy merchandise. It is like giving money to the mafia.

So SEN reporting that the Hawks will go after Noah Anderson via pick 2. I hope those in AFL house have contemplated this and how unjust it would be to manipulate the draft so that the player we would have rightfully got will end up at the hawks..I just cannot swallow that.

How on earth would they get 2?

Makes sense, Noah is the son of Dean Anderson, ex hawk

I'd laugh if GCS traded with Hawks for pick 2, only to take Anderson with 1!

When the Suns were gifted one of the top 2 picks, the thinking was that they were best mates who would go up to the GC, and stay there, which would be good for the GC retention problem. The AFL should have put a condition on picks 1 & 2 that they can't be traded out, otherwise the whole argument about why they got the pick in the first place doesn't make any sense.

Clearly that would not happen.

Do you mean that some confused and cooked Hawthorn supporter rang in to suggest that the Hawks should go after Anderson?

As others have stated, the reason GC were given pick two as part of a package was so they can secure both Rowell and Anderson together. They're best mates. And the Gold Coast need everything working in their favour to keep their young talent together.

In short, regardless of what you hear on SEN, GC will be taking Rowell and Anderson. It's the only reason the AFL gave them pick 2 as a PP.

You would hope so!

Personally i think Lachie Ash, but the smokey i'd consider is Flanders who i think is going to be very good player.

young also ticks a lot of boxes. it's really him or Ash for me.

If it's Flanders, you can already bank the nickname 'Ned'.

I think it was Chris Pelchen that suggested. Gave zero details as to how it could be possible.

No chance.

I’ve come around to this, he can develop nicely while taking pressure off TMac and Weids. My only concern would be that Weids would get stuck behind him and not continue to develop, I still believe in Sam but jeez we need him to get a wriggle on.

Getting Ben King or even Peter Wright from the Gold Coast Suns would be a massive coup.

If not, I am happy keeping pick 3# in the AFL National Draft.

I like the look of Hayden Young from the Dandenong Stingrays. The Demons are crying out for players who are excellent kicks with great decision making under pressure.

Firstly, we will try to split the pick, but may not get a good enough offer. But if we take 3 to the draft, I originally wanted us to pick Young (for his kicking) or Ash (for his speed). But I have come around to the idea of picking mid/fwd Serong. Compared to Robbie Gray & Tom Papley, I think this kid could be a gun.

If we're gonna take pick 3 to the draft, i'd want to bring in a kid with either elite kicking skills or elite pace. Serong isn't elite in either of these.

Brodie Kemp

I really like the look of this kid.  I think there's some massive upside there.  I'm not sure we'd take him with pick three, but if we split it and downgrade a few spots he'd be a great get.

I would. He was starting to hit his straps when he went down and if he was able to get though the entirety of the U18 carnival, i reckon he would've easily pushed his name up to be equal to the likes of Ash and Young.

He's quick and explosive (hopefully that won't fade after he recovers from his ACL), takes a good grab, likes to throw his weight around and is a good kick.

Given the so called 'evenness' after the top 2 picks, i wouldn't be upset if we decided to take Kemp if we had pick 3.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
