September 25, 20196 yr ANB has to be hanging something on the footy department. How he has a 2 year deal is unfathomable and is exactly the kind of decision why we’ll be stuck as a mediocre team forever. Other than that at their very best, Lockhart, Smith and maybe Baker could be best 22. The others - not a chance. Happy with Corey Wagner on a rookie spot, however re-signing Josh seems like a mistake.
September 25, 20196 yr Happy Joel Smith has resigned. Lockhart and Dunkley ok as rookies, the rest don't inspire much confidence.

September 25, 20196 yr I guess it's not unreasonable to think that all of them have been re-contracted on small coin so overall not a big outlay in the scheme of things. All are still quite young and one or two may still surprise and become a valued commodity over that time. In the absence of any more information it looks like a relatively small gamble on the face of it.

Yes depth is important, but most of the guys I mentioned are never going to be good enough to push into the 22 if everyone is healthy which is what we need. Look at who is missing out for the Tigers - Townsend, Jack Ross, Dan Butler, Pickett, Stack... Most would get games in any other team. Compare that with some of our re-signings, only the Suns would want them. Everyone talks about the bottom six of the 22 - equally as important is the 6 after that putting pressure on 1st team players.

September 25, 20196 yr ANB??!! Please spare me FFS. Wagners underwhelming, the rest who would know!! The club ain’t going anywhere with ANB.

September 25, 20196 yr I'm more concerned with who we pick up and the system we look to play next year. We undoubtedly need pace and pressure all over the ground, particularly forward of centre, but our team has shown it can get to a PF. Tweak the system, get everyone on the same page, add some speed, get everyone through pre season and we can make the 8 next year. The change to system and coaching is what's going to turn our fortune, not the re-signing of a couple of youngsters who have barely had a chance to show their wares yet. (yes, I know about ANB and the Wagners, but get the system right and they will be plug and play contributors)

September 25, 20196 yr How Josh Wagner got another shot is beyond me SPUD.5 years in the system is long enough should have been delisted. The rest were expected.
September 25, 20196 yr I suppose this means Stretch is gone and they will let Frost walk if they want pick 56.

September 25, 20196 yr Josh Wagner is a mind boggling decision. And the less I say about ANB the better. The rest you take or leave. Low cost and low risk.
September 25, 20196 yr I'm underwhelmed by this list. None of them are required players. I'd rather see Frosty get another deal.
September 25, 20196 yr Baker has potential. ANB has had some good games in 2018 but this year pathetic. Worth the depth - two years generous. Joel Smith big tick for mine, just needs a good run at it without injury. Wagner boys provide depth and nothing questionable regards their effort. Chandler lucky to be kept on. Lockhart a full pre season will surprise. Same as Lockhart, a full pre season will do wonders for Dunkley. We can’t just clean out this level of players and regurgitate with the next batch of NQR’s every season and more than anything this comes across as underwhelming because of the fact they’re a bulk fringe player re-signing media release! Why didn’t they just announce them as the happened throughout the year? Must be some method to the madness. Edited September 25, 20196 yr by McQueen
September 25, 20196 yr Oh no the Nostradismals on here wrong again, been busily checking tall building for red and blue 'jumpers' It is a list of between 44 and 46, we get rid of a lot and replace with who untried kids, has beens, players other clubs want to offload It's called list management If they don't all get a game next season it means the 22 who are, are injury free and playing consistently well But we need depth, and depth we have been developing for a year or two
September 25, 20196 yr Happy with the signing of the Wagner Bros as IMO their footy will blossom. Cory could have a break out 2020. Oscar Baker will be better for the taste of game time he had in the AFL. Will be a big improver.

Which is why we're trying to improve it this offseason and a fair few are on their way out already. Don't understand the over the top reaction here to re-signing some cheap solid depth though.
