Another step closer to a Woewodin being in the red and the blue.

He might not nominate for the father/son process.

Why?

His dad said in a interview last year that Taj is a very passionate Melbourne supporter and Jack Viney being his favourite player. Not only that, he said Taj is driven to play AFL when possible.

He's already spent a week with the club over the pre season training with the boys.

Has the option to forego the father/son process and go into the draft.   That is not negative it is realistic.

Pending form, if Taj impresses the club this year and want him thrn I can bet every dollar Taj will jump at the opportunity immediately.

Cooper? How old would he be now? Is he any good?

I’ve heard he Tries hard but would need everything to go right and improve a lot to get drafted. Has a great attitude.

Similar things were said about his father when he joined the Dees.

His father was a top junior.

And he won a Brownlow.

Sure - Shane W may not have been the best player in that year, but he was a dedicated, loyal Demon and he was ultimately let down by the club and by many supporters.

The club, at the time, which was run by a stack of tres ordinaire lawyers and accountants with limited EQ and probably limited IQ, didn’t recognise this - and they stuffed it up. 2003 was a disaster as a direct result.

I just hope we’ll be better going forward.

I'm pretty sure I heard the Ox say about 3 years ago, that he was more interested in basketball ☹️. He must be about 17 now.

Would be very happy to see a Woewodin running around in the red and blue.

With all the Pickett/Farmer/Davey/Rioli comparisons kicking around, I have been thinking how much Rivers off half back reminds me of a young Shane Woewodin.  Genuinely good and unfairly maligned player.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
