So apparently it was mentioned on SEN this afternoon and then later on channel 7 that we are making a late play for Bruce?

Did anyone catch this??

Was it from the hosts or did someone call in?

I thought he’d agreed to the Dogs on personal terms, was just a matter of the clubs putting a suitable trade together. Unless we pull a Sydney-Lockett style rug pulling why would he have reason to change his mind. Dogs would surely have more $$ than us to offer

The suitable trade hasn’t been found.

Both parties have valued his worth differently at this point

And it's always good to up his value and make sure the Dogs pay top price ???

Really rate him and would be happy to pass the Elliot contract over to him.

Next year’s second round pick..?

How old is he?

I cant see us offering much better. Unless we offer this years or next years 2nd (one of which is going for Langdon) then I don’t see him going to us

Yes i heard this on the trade game, don't mind it at all, they'd be after our 2nd rounder isn't that pick 21?

If everything else fell into place with salary/ contract yrs etc.

Would represent a good bit of business.

Saints clearing the decks for Ben King to come on board next year.

That’d be going to Fremantle for Langdon I’d say.

Perhaps on trading the Frost pick..?  I have no idea what that might be, but Frost for Bruce sounds close to the mark.

Even better?

If we really are into him I hope we get him, not because I rate him but if we miss out we’re going to start looking like Norf soon.

Is his middle name Basil?

My first thought was no way (Bruce more valuable than Frost) but then I checked this year's B & F results - they both finished 9th!

Yes, except they have no intention of doing so

Greetings 3rd Party....

Tomlinson and Langdon say HI!

My issue is everyone is saying saints need to clear space to get king. If we grab him we have no room for king (salary cap wise). So if we want king it's a no, if they want a second round pick (one to Freo and one to saints to me is a no as well as the draft is so even this year especially). But the club will do whatever it wants.

I think the Saints need to take care of this year's shopping list before they look to King.

They need picks and cash to cover Hill, Jones, Ryder, etc.

Something's gotta give.

Hill for 6  is easy but then Howard, Jones, Ryder and Butler maybe, when their next pick is 59.

I suppose the picks for Bruce and Steven could get Jones and Howard and Ryder could be 59 and Butler could be a 2020 pick.

They have cap room and lose Bruce/Newnes/Steven and others to make more room.

It depends how far apart the negotiations are. The Aints need some good numbers to help get all their other deals done.

The Dogs know it

We should be waiting, just off to the side..

More than happy to add Bruce to the forward line, can take a grab, average set shot. it'll be like Hogan is back

Not his middle name, however..

In the 1939 Sherlock Homes movie, Holmes and Watson were played by Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce respectively. This is how he got the nickname.....Basil.

It’s pretty well documented that the players’ collective-favourite author is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, so that checks out.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
