We sold our pokies venues so we'll need to keep selling games.

The fin's don't look that great outside of the significant cash injection from the recent venue sales as general revenue will take a hit next year.

Let's hope they invest the money wisely into long term ongoing revenue streams otherwise we'll have the hand back out to the AFL in a couple of seasons.

It really does nothing for us.

If its about money then the club gurus need to get a wiggle on.

Either we get serious about football..and about  resources  or we just continue to street peddle ourselves. 

Time to grow up Melbourne. ..find your feet or just go home ( where ever that is )

I do not have figures, neither do you I assume. Didn't say i did.

But the share of broadcast money shows that all clubs get a handout from the AFL, as I said.

Seems like GC going to get Darwin as Academy Zone despite never having played a game there. Talk about giving these trash teams a leg up at our expense

A lot of the big clubs are wrangling for it, for obvious reasons.

I would think we would/should be negotiating it as part of our future agreement.

We are the club putting in the effort so we should get some tangible benefit for doing the work.

Agree with you but won’t happen. Remember women’s footy? Dogs and us invested in it for years before the AFL got on board and in the process we got bent over big time.

The clubs pool the Tv coverage to sell the rights. If they didn't the power clubs would make a fortune

The clubs receiving supps are well publicised. I'll get them and give them to you.

IIRC we are on the cusp as are Saints, Bulldogs and North. Clubs getting bigger amounts are the Suns, Brisbane and GWS. Freo may also be on the drip

Last year the club made an operating profit of $506,276 and the NT games bring in a minimum $1,000,000. We are big time on the teat of this deal and are lucky the conditions aren't there for any more games or we'd end up like North and Hawthorn and selling 3/4 games a year up there to make quick cash.

It's in a small part paying for increased footy department spend, increased salary cap, for us to take over Casey, dumping the pokies at the Bentleigh Club, fielding a women's team, losing annual Queen's Birthday hosting and probably sack a coach in 12 months.

I don't want to play there but the reality is we're a consistently poor club that has relied on charity three times in 20 years to avoid falling into total financial disrepair. I don't think another Victorian club will jump in on this because all the other minnows are selling games somewhere else, and now that Channel 7 has their hooks into the Alice Springs games they're going to want a Victorian club hosting, but if the NT/AFL/whoever did the dirty on us and we lost this revenue stream it would be a disaster.

Unfortunately as a poor club we are beholden to grasping on to whatever scraps we can get

Ultimately we need the NT deal more than the AFL / NT / whatever needs us to have it

Yeah for sure, especially since exiting pokies. That's part of what I wanted to show there, but also I wanted to show how invested PJ seemed in the connections we've built with the NT, the community and the programs we've instigated there.

Its not actually.  Business  is business. We're  no different.  Those that remain consolitary to their lot wither. 

When has this club ever been particularly  entrepreneurial ??

Oh woe is us...its a competitive  market ..woe woe. I have news. It always has been. ..always will be. .

I have no illusions about where we are and why.  We seem a business over bloated in some departments, poorly able in others and currently  back on the bottom which  always entices people and money ( not ) 

Our core business  is football. If we arent any good at that everything  else become 2x 3x Yx harder.

Ive not only embraced where we sre in the pecking order...i get it. What your good self and others dont get is capable business  finds a way..or dies. Which do you prefer. And before you trot out...but our way is whoring our games to the NT consider what that actually  accomplishes for iur core business ? Nothing...and i defy anyone to prove otherwise.  ....not lovey dovey motherhood statements etc...but how it actually  betters our football  results. 

We need to be far cleverer. Taking the "easy money"  is short sighted. Whilst i dont particularly  like pokies it was foolish to truncate that scheme before you have its replacement  on stream. Bit like shutting down power stations too early. Sounds marvelous  to the ignorant...but in reality  you're  shooting  yourself  in the feet.

For a club with supposed  blue chip connections ive never really understood  why we wallow. 

Again we need to be far cleverer  and lateral than we are. And for the very reason you seek to deride...because it IS hard out there.

It's not my business.  People are actually  employed to do this. I'm no oracle as you say...but i managed to remain relevant in a number of careers and don't have any non returning debt. ( thats means borrowed money is making money ),  when it stops 'returning' I dump it.. I have property and about to realise potential  on another block. 

What this says is I've kept my head above the gurgly stuff. I'm not that special and have limited resources to bring to bear. The club has any number of both employed "professionals" as well as you'd  have to think an extended family of movers and shakers among coterie groups. And yet we still look wonderously at the Kakadu Koin .

My strategy....maybe get better people.

To be honest. I think we need the cash and every other commentary is just spin.

Saying that we are invested in the community sounds a lot better than 'we're just here for the cash'.
