Jenkins is big unit but I am sure you would have brought him down. We lost it in front of our own goal.

Yeah you’re right. Couldn’t expect a key backman to lock down the ball / Jenkins in a tackle especially when they’re “big units”. He is pretty good JJ (didn’t see how he went in the sanfl last week but assume OK).

Supporting this club is such hard work. Is there any other that comes close? Maybe Saints or Freo.

Every Melbourne supporter knew the crows would get back into the game. We've seen it dozens (more?) of times over the years. There was a sense of inevitability about it. How is it you change the players, coaches, gameplan, ground whatever - and the MFC still manages still throw games away in heartbreaking fashion.

My dad said he stopped watching at half time, couldn't enjoy the lead we had because he knew it would get eroded and too stressful to watch the 2nd half. My wife (Geelong supporter) said she can't watch Melbourne games anymore, she was getting more upset than I was.

Fast forward to next year. We lead the Crows at three quarter time. Guess what Don Pyke says to the players........

Thank you. I have said that for weeks. The guy is scared sh-tless. Play him and you deserve to lose every week.

He must have been involved in at least 10 negative incidents tonight, any one of which if he had tried, we would have won.

I feel sorry for Weid because he should never have been in that position. He was nearly crying.

Jeffy couldn't give a flying f-ck.

He only had 6 possessions last week. This week he kicked a couple but it's what he misses and doesn't do that irks me. He doesn't go when it's his turn. Gee compare him to Viney or Hunt who get clobbered. I'd trade or delist him he is 2 flakey

In fact I'd get rid of JKH 2 he gets very nervous when he thinks contact is coming his way. Although strangely he loves 2 tackle. OMac either is tried as a forward or goes in2 the gym he gets ragdolled far 2 much.

Priority must be given to set shot goal kicking, Field play was much improved but set shot kicking was, as usual, a F**KING DISASTER. IF Melbourne do nothing else but practice set shot goal kicking I will find a way to believe...again...

That was actually harder to lose than win.

But not for the experts in losing - we could write the text book on how to throw games away. How many games have we just completely thrown away in the last few years by our own doing?

That was by far the worst of them - it was absolutely ridiculous to lose that game of footy.

One of the biggest chokes I reckon I've seen

Off the top of my head the Saints game at Docklands, both Cats games last year, tonight - we almost did the same against the Subs a few weeks back. I know there's more but I'm not going back into the memory bank of pain, those are just the ones I can remember without even trying.

When you can't perform simple skills like marking unopposed and set shots from dead in front your asking to be beaten. Don't think I've ever seen a game so thrown away. Aside I don't see what playing in Darwin has to do with it.

Are you serious? Have you ever played the bloody game? He is a squib of the highest order. His gutless play must drive his team mates mad. It certainly does to nearly every Dees fan I know.

So if a bloke gets 3 Joe the Gooses and pulls out of every contest, you think he has played well. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I have played and at MFC  U19 and at Ammos over 10 years and in Premierships.

I'll tell you this, Yep Jeffy has his limitations but he did some good things tonight unlike others who did not!

the club has never has goal kicking accuracy as a priority. How do I know this? a) we have been terrible for some time. b) petracca is played forward  c) Fritsch is played in defence. d) gawn rests forward.

There is NO POINT playing ANYONE in the forward line unless they are good kicks for goal. it's pretty simple.

oscar McDonald is an easy target. we all know he is a vfl reserves level defender. everyone except the coaching staff.

Big hearted Captains but they never get the prize. Viney always tries to get away with that little bit more when it is on the line when we need cool heads. Coach should have said to Jones. Go to Betts and shut him down anyway you can.

Trying to rationalise and come up with a positive response to this game. All I came up with was this:

Besides our own disgraceful kicking for goal, don't forget the bad luck we are continually having.

Can't get a free in front of goal ever.

Multiple injured players unlike the opposition each week.

Lose Salem and Hore just before the game.

With them in it would be fair to say we win.

It's a real puzzle to me this problem of multi generational failure . It really seems like a curse . Different coaches players , management , they just can't fight this rancid malaise that has condemned us to so much misery for so long .

My recollection of OMAC - gave away some cheap frees early.  Got caught in places he couldn’t compete for the ball too many times.  Couldn’t stick tackles.  Got run off too easily - the crows would get 10-20 m separation way too often in 1:1 contests.  Some cheap distribution kicks, but should be called spinach - he wilted with any heat.  I think he knows May is on his way in, and Frost has more value than OMAC atm.

They lost their best player at quarter time (Sloane) and played one short in that heat & humidity and come right over the top of us. Wow!

Yes, the Smith & Weideman misses were horrible, but the defensive efforts of Wagner when he slid in and took the legs of two Melbourne players out and left Betts free to run into goal, the weakest effort by JKH that I’ve seen in a long, long time when he sh#!t himself and fell over which allowed Jenkins to run past him and handball for a goal, plus nearly everything that Oscar did were more horrific.

I also can’t believe the drop off of Tom MacDonald!!!

Yes, even down to saying, Viney and co will get late possessions bullock to get free, spray the kick so just get in position and wait for it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
