Just watching the Dogs and Blues game. The cameras keep focusing on security staff roaming up and down the aisles eyeballing people in the crowd.

The Demon shop now stocks red and blue gaffa tape jane.

I noticed a Carlton supporter with her mouth covered. Hmmm.

I too am sick of a minority of fools ruining my day at the footy. The same 22 blokes seem to be the culprits every single week and yet it's been going on for years without respite.

All for cleaning up some of the crowd behaviour.

Trouble is it appears they are picking on the harmless loud fool.

The offensive ones get away with it because the security generally won't face them down.

Straight from the writers of Borat's 'Cultural Learning of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan'

Crowds need to start chanting “Green Maggott”, “Gilllon’s a w...nker “ and “Bald headed [censored]” in unison before and during games. What are they going to do then? Solidarity. You can’t beat it.

Melbourne is turning into London.

Frightening.

Unnecessary by Channel 7, they're on to cover the game not crowd politics.

Also ironic because they're the people who have been cutting to nuffies in the crowd doing their block after controversial decisions for years.

I once got told I barrack too loudly at the footy, wasn’t from security it was from a fellow Melbourne supporter, I think I interrupted there golf clap after each goal

Gil said this week AFL policy is unchanged but fans will decide what is acceptable ie if someone complains about bad behaviour, security will react.

From that video and other emerging stories that is clearly not so eg.  Channel 7 and AFL Media reporter and broadcaster Nat Edwards: "I was on level 3 and it was very awkward. Security was staring down anyone who became animated and several fans were warned for just barracking. It was like we were being spied on".  Barracking, or not, at the Footy.

As usual AFL speak with 'forked tongue: Unchanged policy doesn't mean unchanged enforcement and control in the implementation of said policy.

Crickey, they would have to evict everyone at 'Boo' Stadium when WCE play!  Or is this just a Victorian crackdown!

The AFL will be, if it already isn't, a laughing stock!

Looks like its just Victorian.  Which makes sense as that state is an SJW shithole.

Have a look at the ones who are telling you they're picking on the 'harmless loud fool' though, it's generally the 'harmless loud fool' themselves.

'Bald headed [censored]' guy was hanging over the race screaming it (and by fans reports, various other things) directly at Nicholls as he was walking out. It wasn't a 'harmless loud' comment during the game after a decision he disagreed with when the umpire was hundreds of metres away on the ground, it was directly at him from close proximity and not during game time.

The Carlton bloke who has played the victim has a bunch of social media posts from before his 15 minutes of fame where he is absolutely abusing people with foul language in a way that would threaten most families at a game. You honestly believe he was just innocently barracking when kicked out?

Find it strange that for such a (generally) sceptical site, so many are getting sucked in by the media outrage agenda so easily.

Be careful, someone might take offence to that on behalf of someone else who may take offence.

Those poor victim fans. Obviously security is not needed at all...

"Video footage posted to social media showed Victoria Police getting between fans who were fighting each other after the siren, with one throwing a right hand over the top of an officer in an attempt to strike another man.

An unknown fan then pours what appears to be beer on the police and the offending fans from the stand above."

I’d like to see that “Behavioural Awareness Officer” try and do that to hardcore members of the Kop at Anfield. Wouldn’t make it past the third isle without a ‘Liverpool kiss’ and cauliflower ears.

We too meekly accept this rubbish in Australia.

Is that really what you want? People doing their jobs to be physically attacked?

And then you wonder why they have these people there in the first place...

No of course not. Our fan tolerance is something to be cherished. But it doesn't mean we have to be meek and cop this kind of PC rubbish lying down. Joffa Corfe is to be commended for his stance and hopefully there is a groundswell of more non-aggressive resistance to this bulltish. As I said in an earlier post supporters from all clubs should band together and begin chanting "bald headed [censored]", "green maggot" and "Gillon's a wa...ker" in protest. What's the AFL going to do then? This is the beginning of the end of Gillon in my view. Completely lost the plot.

So your solution to your perceived over-policing of abuse is more abuse?

Good luck with that.

Reality TV is all about the drama these days, see My Kitchen Rules (it’s got nothing to do with food but who’s got the most Botox and biggest duck face). Unfortunately the AFL isn’t immune, people love (contrived) drama.

Abuse? "Green Maggot"? Come off it. They're even warning people not to barrack too loudly! Please.

Where does the sanitization of society end? And who determines the standards? Gillon McLachlan and a few dopes at AFL HQ? Neo-Marxist Feminazis at The Age?

People need to tread very carefully when dictating on high to others about "appropriate behavior". There are lines you don't cross and Gillon is currently crossing them in grand and arrogant fashion.

Channel7 are fueling the Gill has lost the plot fire and i approve, compared to anthing that comes from AFL media and @AFL which pretend everything is all fine and Gill is a saint.

Trouble is Gill won't come out and put it on the table.

As usual we get his double speak.

As I said earlier, I'm all for cleaning up some of the crowd behaviour. Some fans are totally out of control.

...but as with the Goodes affair all we get from Gill is the nothing to see here line.

Leaders stand for something, Gill stands for nothing...he blows with the wind.

The sooner Brendan Gale takes as over as CEO of the AFL the better.

There is just no way i will go to a Match live, if there are security guards pacing the aisles. It’s just wrong, and if it is only the Victorian Grounds they are doing it at, this scenario will not end well

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
